Ride Off Stand for GL1800
This is the second "Ride Off" centerstand I have purchased. The first was more than twenty years ago, for a GL-1500, which I used for many years, without any problems. This stand works like a charm, and is preferable to the original OEM centerstand, in my option. As others have indicated in their reviews, the difficult part of mounting this stand is actually getting the OEM stand off. Knowing that the right side, hex head, bolt is a reverse thread, and finding a way of getting enough leverage on the left side to break loose the socket head, Allen Head, bolt, is the key. I read a lot of reviews, here and on other sites, applied a lot on W-D 40, used leverage with a cheater pipe to extend the wrench handle, and then, with patience, I was able to get both bolts, and the return spring off successfully. The coin trick for the spring is genius and works well, both in getting the spring off and getting it back on, when reinstalling. Getting the new centerstand on is a piece of cake, as long as you are patient and take occasional breaks from turning each bolt,1/8 rotation at a time, for about a million revolutions. In the end, I wasn't bloody or disappointed in how the new centerstand fits on the bike. The foot pad does sit forward of where the OEM leg sat, but looks fine and works well. Getting the bike onto the stand takes, literally, about 25% of the effort required for the original stand. As long as you realize the limitations of this "balance" stand, compared the stability of the OEM stand, and only deploy it on a flat, level surface, you'll love your decision. |

Wonderful Product
Highly delighted by this product. I was able to use the OEM but on the odd occasion I did have concerns about strain injury. Changing to this product was an absolute pleasure. I recommend it without hesitation. |

Manufacturing defect
As others have said, it's tough to get the stock bolts off. I used a 2' iron pipe as a socket wrench extension. Even so, my cheap sockets kept stripping. Bought a Husky brand socket and that worked. But the new stand had a manufacturing defect: the right side ear/flange with the mounting hole was welded 1/8" too low. Didn't notice it till I tried to install it. With 1/8" less clearance, after screwing in the right side bolt, the stand wouldn't pivot up far enough to install the left side hex bolt. I had to file off the area directly below the flange till there was enough room to swivel up into place. Then, once installed, when I tried to put the bike on the center stand, it didn't have enough space to fully engage (so the flat part of the stand rests on the flat pad on the bike, as the OEM stand does.) This left the bike precariously balanced. By comparing it to the OEM stand, which is beveled down about an inch near both flanges, I filed the new stand to match and then it worked, swivels up into place where it should. However, since the right side is 1/8" shorter than the left, the bike leans slightly to the right. Doesn't seem to affect getting onto or off of the stand though. All that said, now that it's finally on, I love it. Make sure you leave the bike in Reverse when it's on the stand (as the manufacturer suggests.) |

Love it!
Don’t forget to order every part you need for the install. I put this on an F6B standard so it didn’t have a center stand to pull parts from. Easy work though finding everything you need from Wingstuff. Just look at the schematics and you’re golden. Install was very simple... except the dang spring. With thick washers inserted between the spring rungs, pulling with all my might with vice grips, I still needed the lever of a big screwdriver to slide it over the peg. I buggered it up pretty good, but it’s a kickstand, it ain’t supposed to be pretty. :) And it’s done. So I’m done. |

Black ROCS for GL 1800
Excellent product. Work as expected. Perfect fit, and easy to install. This should be the number one modification you do on a Goldwing. Even my small wife can now put the bike on the center stand. Thank You, Wingstuff. |

Exactly What I Wanted.
The OEM center stand was injuring my lower back so I bought this to prevent further injury. In hindsight, I should have purchased this a long time ago. It absolutely works as advertised! Either with the reverse gear, or from the left side as designed, it is ridiculously easy to place on the Ride Off Center Stand. I now live in a condo without a garage to work on my Goldwing so I hired the local Honda shop. Well worth the $73.56 to have them R&R the center stand!! The 2 cons already mentioned are: 1) cannot rotate the rear tire; and 2) cannot easily un-weight the front tire to easily rotate the steering wheel. However, the instructions describe the work-arounds. On balance, the pros FAR outweigh the cons!! My back is extremely grateful. If you're reading this, stop here and put one on order. You won't regret it. |

Nice idea, but.......
It might even work.Absolutely do not buy until you loosen the 8mm allen and 14 mm left hand thread bolts that hold the OEM stand on. I could not get mine to budge. Motorcycle shop could not get it loose. Be forwarned. I've already spent as much on labor and tools as the stand and still can't get the old one off. |

Awesome stand
This is the best thing I've ever purchased for my Goldwing 1800. It makes putting it on the centerstand effortless. The most important thing I can say to those who will purchase one is READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. It appears by some of the reviews here that some did not. REMEMBER that the left side 14mm hex bolt is reverse threaded and the right side 8 mm Allen can be stripped if you're not careful. That said, i had no issues installing, but I will give you some advice from my experience not listed in instructions. It is far easier to install if the first thing you remove is the spring from the stand and it is the last thing you install. Also, use a 5lb sledge to help break loose the hex and Allen bolts and also use the sledge to aid in retighten the bolts, but again be careful not to strip the allen bolt, though it is not very easy to strip unless your careless. The hardest part of the job is getting the spring back on. I recommend a pair of vice-grips for that. One more thing. For the Goldwing, it's best to have a second person help you unless you have a jack because access to the right side allen bolt is impossible while on the side stand. |

This is the second ride off stand I’ve had...
I wouldn’t have a bike without one. Makes life so much easier. I would suggest one to all my biker friends. |

great product
I live in France. So easy to order. Even with freight and taxes saved 100$.Very easy to install. Just follow the instructions carefully. 8 hex key on left. 14 bolt counter on right. Be careful with spacers. 1 hour to do itWanever able to put it on center stand alone. Now a piece of cake. |

Very Poor Instructions / Easy to Screw Up
I like the IDEA of this stand. After 8 spine surgeries I can't lift the bike onto the normal stand. This one lets me to that but TWO things: 1) These are THE worst instructions I've ever seen. Seems like the guy could put some energy into making good instructions to help a lot of users prevent stripping out the bolts. (YouTube Video Sir) 2) Once you try to put your toe down to ride up on the stand, if not on completely level ground, YOUR BIKE IS GOING TO GO OVER - No matter what you do. So Be Careful with installation, and Be Careful when using the darn thing. Once you get more used to it I think it is fine. But the Goldwind will go right over to the left if you are not careful!!!!! |

Well made and works as described
Having knee issues, I wanted to have a way to better support the bike when my passenger gets on and off. This Ride Off stand does just that. Plus's: When stopped at the end of the ride, I can use the bikes reverse to set the bike up on the stand, with both of us on board. I can also simply ride off, again when we're both on board. Installation is easy as long as you know the right ride fastener is reverse thread. With no one on board and putting the bike up on this stand like the original, you have to be show and careful. The bike will go up on the stand real quick and easy! I mean really easy! This is not the OEM or original stand. One must be prepared for that. Some things I cannot do with this stand is rotate the rear tire to check the tread for nails when it's up on this stand. I can also not rotate the front tire, sliding it on it's tread surface, like I could do on the OEM center stand. A block of plywood can be used under this stand's feet to raise the rear tire off the ground along with the suspension height adjustment at zero. However even with a 3/4 inch thick piece of plywood, the rear tire still touched the concrete floor. Also with this stand up on a board, it will take 2 people to rock the bike off the "ride off" center stand. The pressure on the rear tire will not allow one to ride off if the stand is engaged with wood. There is just not enough traction. So my point is that in order to rotate the tires, a motorcycle jack is the best bet. One can always check tires or get the valve stem in filling position by rolling the bike on the ground. That's the standard with bikes that have only a side stand. This ride off stand is a great choice for my knee situation. It is vary stable to board the bike. No reduced lean clearance like a Landing-Gear system or trike converting zero lean. And under $200.... worth the differences and feature over the OEM center stand. Corventure Dave |
