I had to replace the fork seals on my 01, so I thought why not change the bearings while I had the front off. It was a little difficult getting the old one out, but finally with a little help from the trusty Dremel, I got them out. I had a local dealer press the ones onto the stem just to be safe. I made my own tool for the steering nut out of galvanized pipe, again cutting out the indentions with the Dremel. At the same time I had the deal install the progressive springs because I had them on a previous Wing I had owned and loved them. Even with 10,000 miles on the Bridgestones, I could tell an immediate difference in the low speed handling. I would never have taken my hands off of the handlebars before, but I just had to try it once and the bike ran true and straight. I am ready for a new stone on front and can't wait to see how many miles I get out of it. My advice is, if you've got to take the front-end off for any reason, go ahead and install these then. I asked my dealer why didn't Honda admit there was a problem and install these bearings on the new ones. He said they would have to do a recall on all of the older bikes and it would cost too much. |

installed these in the 08 with only 14000 miles on the bike because of severe wobble and wow what a difference. I should have put these in the 02, this is not something most people will tackle but again the bearings are great. |

In short, I found this, and new fork springs (I installed racetechs) the simplest way to reduce or in my case, eliminate front end wobble, and make your wing `tight' and `dialed'. I am a Metzler fan. BUT, we all know they have a lousy record when it comes to tires wobbling, or wearing poorly to the point of `singing' on turns. I had the All Balls installed at 40,000 miles. They immediately made my ride tight and I had no wobble. My Metz's did not cup or wear poorly. My bad was, I forgot to re-torqued after 1,000 miles. At 70,000 miles, I ran through a set of Avons I thought I'd give a try (cupped and humped at 7,000 miles). I slapped myself and re-torqued my neck bearings. RE-TORQUING IS VERY EASY TO DO! A VERY VERY SIMPLE 4 BEER JOB! Installed a new set of Metz (bought at Wingstuff) and at 8,000 miles, there is NO wobble, a smooth ride, and even wear. It's a way cheap improvement compared to a $2500 front end total re-do, which leaves more cash for trips. Honda boned us all by not using tapered bearings from the factory. Spend the money to have the tapered bearings installed. One thing, at first I torqued to the 28-30 lbs shown on the All Balls site. Too tight in the turns. I backed off to 25 lbs and I am happier than a new episode of Family Guy. |

Installed AK20 Traxxion front end, the Kuryakyn Fork Brace, and All Balls at the same time. The perfect Trifacta! The "dust covers" are cheesy plastic stick on's. For the money, you would expect better, but.....Significant and noticable improvement in handling, especially at slow speeds. Absolutely NO Front end wobble at any speeds, and my Elite 3 front tire is getting great milage with no cupping or other abnormal wear. Going with all three at the same time was expensive, but well worth it in my opinion. |

Just had the all ball tapered bearings installed, 26,000 miles on 02 gl1800. Had a very severe wobble with no hands on the handle bars from 50mph on deceleration. After the installation the bike is rock solid at all speeds from 50 on down to zero. Could not be more satisfied. BTW the old bearings were not loose & were properly torqued to specs. |

Just got them installed. Wow, what a difference. I've had the wobble since day 1. The wobble is all gone now, not even a hint of a wobble now. I can't believe that Honda doesn't acknowledge that there is a problem. I've heard a lot of good things about these bearings and they're all true. If the wobble bothers you like it did me, it's worth the money to install them. My shop charged me 3 hours labor to install them. Money well spent! |

I had mine installed at Gary's Hobbie Shop outside of Atlanta, GA along with the Traxxion system. It has been one year and 17k miles. I had the bearings tightened after 4k miles along with the rear swingarm which was out of spec from the factory to meet my preference. Once all the fine tunning was done the bike is how it is supposed to be or should be. I have almost no wobble ... hands free in 4th from 55 to 20mph isn't an issue. Before it was a dramatic wobble which would lead to a wreck without hands on the bars. Now I just enjoy the ride. The setup is worth it and I'm not sure home much any one item contributed to correction ... bearings versus brace versus Traxxion versus swingarm torque increase versus tires, etc. I'm certainly in a better place now with the bikes handling. Good luck. https://picasaweb.google.com/jssiler1272/GarySHobbieShop www.youtube.com/jssiler I've got some pics and videos of the work. |

Just put these in on my GL1800. Installation is easy enough to do at home with common tools, hammer, brass drift pin, and patience. While my forks were removed, I installed the stiffer Traxxion Dynmamics fork springs, and upon reinstallation, I installed the Kuryakyn Fork Brace and it’s redesigned Chrome Dust Covers. Everything went together really well, and both my high speed and low speed handling is now razor sharp. Though I have stated my handling is vastly improved, I am very hesitant to say that the infamous front-end wobble is cured. My thirty-plus years of riding experience tell me differently. A quick look at available front tire tread patterns (any brand), along with the knowledge that any tire I put on will eventually cup in it’s normal wear cycle suggests to me that front-end deceleration wobble will come and go. I believe this wobble is related to tire wear, the composition of the rubber in the tire, and the frequency of replacements, i.e.; the softer the rubber, the faster the tire wears, and the sooner deceleration wobble is experienced. In my opinion, we can do many things to vastly improve the overall handling of the GoldWing, (front/rear suspension upgrades, tapered steering bearings, fork braces, and tire selection/replacement) but will not overcome the physical properties that are at play while riding one. Keep both hands on the bars!! |

If your riding your goldwing without these steering bearings you are missing out. this is the best impovement in handling. it's not the same bike after you have these bearings installed. I did not think it would help at all but it does go for it and have them installed don't to it your self inless you are a pro working on goldwings. I had 15,362 miles on my goldwing before installed. |

I had these installed with the progressive springs, front and rear, along with the fork brace. Front end wobble is completely gone. Fantastic! Well worth the time and money. |

I had these bearings installed along with new tires and the wabble in the front end is almost gone. These helped take out the wabble Im sure. I only sense a wabble if I let go of the bars slowing down at 30 or 25 mph.,but other wise not a sign of it. Im still getting involved on the web with a class action suite against Honda to hopefully reimburse this factory defect. |
