| i bought the trunk portion only- the saddle bag part will not fit my trike, its pretty good looking for the rear & safety of course-we need to be seen at all times-real sharp |
| I will say the wiring is pretty straight forward red/white, white/red to brake light bulb orange or yellow to brake light switch and black to ground. I own a gl1800. Here is how I connected mine. I did not want to alternate between right and left as I thought that might confuse someone that I was turning??? I hooked mine up to alternate between inner and outer trunk brake bulbs. To make the connections I soldered longer coded wires to each of the leads to make a harness. I then decided that I hate to remove the seat and removed the lower trunk trim only. You just have to remove the trunk side mouldings, and seven trim screws to loosen the lower trim. Then pull out gently and back and you have access to the trunk taillight wiring. I used the double sided tape to mount the module under the right tail light inside the trunk. This puts it out of the weather and you can run your harness out through the trunk latch opening. Cut and pull back the tape on the wiring harness directly under the taillight. I had my young bride of 33 years hold the brake while I cut ONE of the green with red trace wires to each sides brake light. That let me know if I cut the inner or outer circuit without removing the lamps. I then wired the lamps as directed. I used the cut brake light wires on one side as my brake on circuit. I then cut the other wire on each side and wired the opposite side of the module. I stripped back wiring coating from one solid green wire without cutting the wire. I soldered my ground wire to this circuit. I heat shrank all my connections and reinstalled the trim. Now my lights alternate inner/ outer then blink all four and then stay on. I love it! I had checked with local law enforcement and they were not keen on the idea of alternating side to side, even if they were not sure it was illegal in Iowa. Good Idea to check first. |
| Once you work passed the price and the installation issues, you will realize it was all worth it. The clarity is very good and range equally so. Spend a little extra and get a good quality Mic system. |
| I love these tires, unlike the Elites and the Metzelers they are very sticky and you have to be looking to even know your crossing a rut or a hole. I can drag my rear bags and not slide with these, not something I suggest doing but these things are great and it's like riding a much lighter bike. I put on the 70 profile for the rear giving me a bit more clearance for the turns and even when they do give they give gradually so it's easy to recover, scares the hell out of those sports bikes that are trying to keep up with me :)) I Love Them!!! |
| I replaced a set of Dunlap Elite 3's with these and they seemed much better for the first 1k miles but then about the same as the Elite 3's, grabbing ruts and holes and made me somewhat uncomfortable, but then I spend most of my time on goat trails. But then most of the roads in California have a lot of potholes and ruts. |
| Yes the fit is not perfect but the quality of the product is very good and I can live with the little extra carpet around the sides. I do not have any complaints and I am glad that I purchased them. Great price too. I would buy them all over again. |
| Since no one has reviewed this cover before me...here goes. This cover is heavy duty! It fits my GL1800/Champion trike very well and I am sure it will give me many years of use. Now, although I have owned many motorcycle covers in the past this is the first full size trike cover I've ever owned...and this thing is heavy! It is not a cover you want to take on a trip with you and it certainly is not going to easily go back in the storage bag I took it out of. It is however a great cover for either outdoor storage or long term indoor storage where either weather protection is necessary or the need to uncover the trike is not that frequent. So, I recommend this cover highly, but you may consider what I did and that is to purchase a half cover for travel or just to keep in the trike for those quick storms that pop up on you now and again. |
