I've had mine for several years. It does help with the crosswinds. The best features of this belly pan are: 1. It keeps the bottom clean!!!!!!!!!!! 2. The front detachment plate makes oil changes easy. I did put a couple of plastic bumpers on the front lip to protect the cowling. 3. It has protected the bottom of my Wing. I've had to straighten out some of the louvers. There are more scratches and dings on it than you can stick a shake at. 4. After taking it on and off a few times, the initial installation quirks are old hand. Watch out for the sharp edges. Finally, I haven't noticed any access heat on my feet. |
My Review was posted earlier but forgot to change the start rating to 1. Please read that review and do not buy this junk.
I am on my second Kuryakyn Luggage rack. The first rack the Chrome bubbled and the black rubber padding fell off after about 5 years. Last year I replaced the rack. Mostly because the holes are in the trunk all ready. This spring when I was doing my annual cleaning of the Gold Wing the Chrome is starting to bubble on this rack also. Mostly summer cleaning is washing and wiping with detailer. My Gold Wing is either keep in a heated garage all winter or under the car port in summer. Many time on trips the Cycle is covered at night. The exposure to weather the Gold Wing sees is when ridding or when I take it to work. They rack are also heavy and add weight high on the Wing. After seeing my second rack starting to break down I wound not recommend this rack to any one.
Threw a 2.5 gallon cooler on this for a road trip. Ice melts pretty quickly with all the heat going back there. Cooler also didn't have a tight seal so only used it for sealed products. Here's the thing! At one stop I forgot to put the bungee cords back on. At the stop some 30 miles later, the cooler was still there. Later when buying replacement cords I asked my buddy how many he thought I needed. His answer: "apparently none". I have since bought a 14 gallon Rubbermaid and customized a mount to make it to fit well on the rack. Should handle 2, maybe 3, full grocery bags (not cold items). So plenty of storage. Pitfalls: must get the right size container that won't block the license plate. Catches lots of dirt (or mud) from rear tire. 5K miles and already needs fresh coat of paint.
HAD TO REFRESH THE FLUID OF COURSE-FACTORY IS THE WAY TO GO -SO GET SOME TOO !! CAN'T BE BEAT-------
I had these installed on my 2013 and then headed off for the 2014 Three Flags Classic, Mexico to Canada. These should be stock on every Wing. At 5'6" with a bad back, previous neck and elbow surgery these are nothing short of being a life saver on trips of more than a couple hundred miles.
The unit looks great on the bike. The only problem I had was the lead wire to the fuse box was about 12" too short. I tried running the wire 2 different ways and was short on all of them. I don't know how SC could manufacture this product for a Goldwing & not give enough wire to work with. This would have been 5 star item.
These really do look like they came from Honda. And metal has to be better than any of the plastic ones. Install on my '08 was straight-forward and fairly easy. The fit is good, with minimal tweaking to get all the holes to line up. With the ring of fire on them, they're the berries!

This piece looks so much better than the factory gray one. It is a direct replacement, mine fits as good as my original one does. It appears that it will be more important than ever to keep it clean though. It's so shiny you'll really be able to see all the dirt! |
I installed these onto the Hondaline covers before I put them on. The fit is good. I recruited the help of another to help spread them as I positioned them around the cover. The glue IS very sticky. I put three evenly spaced c-clamps on them to help hold them while the tape set up. They look great and put out a goodly amount of light.
I like the thickness better than stock. The only downside is its harder to adjust up and down. I keep mine down so this really doesn't bother me. I have a silver 05 and I got the black at the bottom, looks really nice. Was easy to put on. So far it hasn't scratched.
The lights add to your visibility and look good at night. Not too difficult to install. Installed both lights in about an hour. I used a metal coat hanger to feed the wire through the faring. Like most posts I would have liked for the lights to be a little brighter. They look great at night but you can hardly see them in daylight. Do not forget to order the adapters with the lights for the 2006 to 2010 models. I did forget and had to wait until I received them before I could install the lights. I am giving the lights four stars instead of five because of the brightness. Still like the way they look on the bike.
