As some of you may know, our dear friend Bruce Baker passed away on January 4, 2022. Bruce was the inventor and owner of Baker Built Air Wings and along with his late wife Barbara (they were married for 58 years!), was a big part of the Gold Wing community for decades. You could always find him at Wing Ding or many other trade shows and rallies over the years, and I’m sure many of you probably knew him or at least spoke with him at some point.
Anyway, all of us here at WingStuff wanted to do some sort of tribute to Bruce to pay our respects. He and our owner Rick Arnoldo had developed quite a good friendship over the years. Back in 2019 Rick and his video crew traveled to Ohio City, OH to have Bruce as our guest on an episode of our series, Rollin’ with Rick.
Last year in April of 2021 we had Bruce as a guest on WingCast and he told us that he watches the video almost every night! It really means a lot to us that he loved the video so much, and we couldn’t have asked for a better compliment. So in honor of Bruce please watch that episode of Rollin’ with Rick below, and if you want, check out the episode of WingCast featuring Bruce as well. Both videos will give you a glimpse into his life and what kind of person he was.
Rick and all of us here at WingStuff will miss Bruce dearly. We love ya Bruce! Rest In Peace.
Remembering Bruce Baker
Thank you for sharing this wonderful and inspiring video about Bruce Baker. I have installed Baker Built air wings on several bikes over the years and have always appreciated the craftsmanship and attention to detail. I knew that Baker Built was a family owned company, but this video really shows the wit, ingenuity and passion of the man behind the products. It is always sad to see our older generation pass away, but people like Bruce will certainly be remembered for their contribution to the true American way of life. On a side note, I may need to add Ohio City to my future tour list, if for no reason than to visit that great restaurant you and Bruce dined in! Ride safe.
GWRRA Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia Canada
Bruce I met at Wing Ding 35 Greenville. He was polite articulate and proof that the sky is the limit when your heart is in it. I enjoy hundreds of hours and the protection from weather hot or cold. From Key West to Nova Scotia. Your work will carry on for years to come! Thank you Bruce
My Favorite Mod!
I tell everyone I meet at bike events that this is my favorite addition to my Goldwing! It’s something that gets used on every ride, weather you leave them closed or adjusted for air. He was a genus in my opinion!
BTW…if you take them off and apart, clean them with some chrome cleaner they’ll look like NEW! 👍
Legacy
A generation of good men that have left their imprint in the history of people's hearts. It's these kinds of people this country was built on....We Need More people like Bruce and Barb!
Great Guy
I love the part of the last video where they wer sitting in the diner and talking about getting pulled over by the cop because 'You're not from around here are you?
Thank you, Mr Baker
Your Air Wings made a comfortable motorcycle so much more comfortable on both hot and cold days. You were quite the inventor and engineer. Thank you. RIP
