Custom install in fairing pocket on 2012 GL1800
I just installed this on the my 2012 GL1800. One of the reviewers said that it interferes with the heat vent mechanism. It does not if you install it as instructed. You must drill the hole on the small upper right side of the fairing pocket where the X indicates to drill. I drilled the hole slightly smaller than the recommended size, then carefully pushed and turned the power plug through the hole. This effectively created a threaded hole on the fairing into which the power plug is secured. I also used the included rear nut for extra support, but it is not really necessary with the tight fit I have. As mentioned by other reviewers this has an inline 3 amp fuse. Check the accessories you are planning on running off of this plug. I am running a 1.85 amp air pump and a Garmin navi - so no problems blowing my fuse. |

Easy install for trunk plug
I have a 2012 Goldwing, which has a power cable with a blue end in the trunk. The blue cable gets power when the bike is turned on and not continuously like the red-end cable. I taped the plug to the back of the trunk liner to help find a good location, which was tricky due to the shape of the trunk and location of the trunk lock controller. A 1-1/8 " hole saw worked perfectly. |

Bought the trunk power plug and installed it. Product is ok and quality is good. Only drama when installing was my hole-saw wobbled and the hold cut too big - but I fixed it by cutting the grips on the side of the socket and expanded them once I pushed the connector into the hole and then applied silicone. (at least it's in the trunk lid and not for all to see). Take my advice, drill out a piece of old plastic or very thin timber and test the connector fit before you drill your expensive plastic. Good luck and a wise investment. PS - remember, the outlet is always HOT - even with the ignition off...so mind you don't kill your battery.. |

I installed two of these. The Honda specific plug-and-play model in the top of the trunk liner, and one in the CD player well in the bottom, under the cover. Installation of both was straight forward, and I would suggest that you install the upper one in conjunction with other modifications that require the top liner removal - there are a lot of screws to remove to do one thing at a time. I use the upper one for more portable devices, and the lower one for things I take out less frequently, or when I need to charge a couple of things at once (usually a buddy's phone or iPod he forgot to charge). |

I got the one for the trunk and it was a snap to install. Just measure twice before you drill a hole...... I now need a 1.125" rubber plug to fill a hole |

Got the trunk one. I was concerned about it simply pushing into the hole that was drilled and not having a "nut like" attachment on the reverse side. Not to worry though, if you drill the 1 1/8 hole the plug will fit snugly into the hole. It took me longer to get all the 19 screws off and the inner trunk lid undone that to drill and attach the plug! |

4 STARS FOR THIS ONE -LOCATION OF THE INSTALL WAS NOT QUITE AS IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN-THIS IS A VERY STRATEGIC INSTALL A VERY SMALL SPACE TO PUT THIS THING WAS VERY DIFFICULT ?? INSTRUCT WAS NOT UP TO SNUFF ON THIS ONE- IF YOU DON'T DO IT EXACTLY (THE DRILLING) YOU ARE LOST FOR A PLACE TO PUT THIS THING IN THE TRUNK AREA ? GOOD PRODUCT THO- LOOKS LIKE A HONDA GINUINE PRODUCT???? FOR THE TRUNK . SO GO GET SOME- !!!!!!!! |

This is a great trunk accessory. Very clean install, looks like it came from the factory. The 1 1/8 hole is a tad big, but I used hot glue to secure it in place as another reviewer mentioned. Thanks for the tip. This upgrade is easy, inexpensive, looks great and very useful. No reason not to do it! |
