So Good I Ordered Another One
I recently purchased a trailer for my 2010 Airbag model and needed to install a hitch so I could pick it up. After considering several lower cost options, I decided on the Bushtec primarily for two reasons; 1) the hitch’s design and construction and the way it mounts to the frame and sub-frame, and 2) no modifications are required for it to work with and airbag model. I looked at other hitches and most had disclaimers about airbag models. I placed my order for the Bushtec hitch, and while I was waiting for it to arrive I searched on-line to find the "tips and tricks" of the installation. I found several useful hints and warnings which helped me prepare for and avoid some of the challenges with the installation - mostly about the tight spots and areas to avoid pinching wires. I planned for a three hour installation so that I wouldn't feel rushed and frustrated. It took me about 2 1/2 hours overall, including putting my tools away. Next step was picking up the trailer, which was the impetus for what was planned to be a 2500 mile touring vacation for my wife and I. I picked up the trailer and about 1,000 miles later we were rear- ended while driving in heavy traffic. The trailer and the Bushtec hitch absorbed the bulk of the impact, and the crash destroyed both, saving the bike from more damage. If I had a lesser hitch, I believe my bike would have suffered more than it did. So, I'm having my second Bushtec hitch installed by the dealer doing the repairs. And I'm sure that it will service me long into the future. |
Chrome Fender Extender w/Rubber for GL1800
ITEM CODE: KU7352, SKU: KU7352

Take off the fender?? Are you kidding??
I really like this fender extension. It keeps the front of my Wing cleaner, and it looks great. It installs easily in a very short time. If you need to remove the fender to install this, I don't think you should try and install anything else on your bike. This is a simple install without removing the fender. No really, if you think you need to remove the fender to install this, take your bike to a shop and have them install it or send the fender extension back. |
Park-n-Move Wheeled Dolly

I've been using the Park-n-Move dolly for about a year now with my GL1800. I park my bike in a 12'X 20' concrete floor outbuilding that is shared with two other motorcycles and my riding mower (as well as a sundry of related stuff). The dolly allows me to drive straight in, turn the bike around and move it against a wall - and facing the door so that I can ride right out. It is so much easier than trying a 30 point turn around inside the building or backing my bike down the ramp and turning around on the gravel pathway. I also have the Bakerbuilt Power Park Center Stand Replacement on my Wing. This required that I modify the dolly a little bit (adding to it to make it a little taller) in order to allow the stand to raise the bike off the ground for turning. In addition, I built a small (1 1/4" thick) ramp for the front tire to aid in getting the bike onto the stand on the dolly. Overall, this is a sturdy, well built dolly that allows me to move my bike around in a tight space and move it easily out of harm's way. And it’s small enough that it stores out of the way when not in use. |
Battery Tender JR 12V Smart Battery Charger

This is a very good economical choice for keeping you battery in shape during the down times. Mow, if you are using this during the summer months, you just need to ride more to keep you battery charged. But in the winter, it's a great tool to have. We have several for our bikes - the Goldwing has a pigtail directly wired to the battery and tucked under the side panel where I can pull it out through the opening as needed. For one of the smaller bike, we pull the battery in the winter and keep the Battery Tender hooked up to it on the workbench. Either way will work, and all the connectors you'll need are included with the charger. |
Black LED Accessory Switch

This is a great accessory and in black it looks like a factory switch panel. Installation was simple and the lighted switches let me know when my driving lights, and are on or off. I wired mine to relays so that I didn't have to worry about too much amperage going through the switches. |
Kuryakyn Chrome Luggage Rack w/Rubber Inlay for GL1800

I guess I'm just lucky! I didn't experience any of the problems that kfinnie relayed. I installed the rack without any problems remembering to measure twice and cut once. A little while later I decided to raise the rack in order to be able to clean under it more easily - may not be an issue if you don’t have the Honda spoiler. The risers fit both the rack and holes without trouble, washers worked, everything fit. I really like the looks of the rack and my Ultragard Luggage Rack Touring Bag fits nicely. |
Ergo II Highway Pegs for GL1800 Gold Wing

I love these pegs for long rides. They look great and were easy to install. I had them in three different positions until I found the one I like best, and the adjustability of the various pieces makes finding the right position pretty easy. |
Clear Lens Universal 3rd Brake Light w/Run Option

This is a great safety addition to the bike. It is well constructed, super bright and works as both a tail and brake light. I admit that I'm a big proponent of safety/visibility devices and this helps in that area. I mounted mine below the plate, and with my brake light modulator there is no question in anyone's mind behind me that I have applied the brakes. |
Universal Power Plugs

I installed two of these. The Honda specific plug-and-play model in the top of the trunk liner, and one in the CD player well in the bottom, under the cover. Installation of both was straight forward, and I would suggest that you install the upper one in conjunction with other modifications that require the top liner removal - there are a lot of screws to remove to do one thing at a time. I use the upper one for more portable devices, and the lower one for things I take out less frequently, or when I need to charge a couple of things at once (usually a buddy's phone or iPod he forgot to charge). |

A great little connector. I already had an Autocom system that I wanted to use on my 2010 Wing. With this device, I was able to take the passenger feed and turn it into an input into the Autocom system. I did use some heat shrink tubing over both connections to insure that neither of them come loose under my seat. Now I have all the Goldwing audio functions, as well as a Bluetooth dongle and radar detector inputs. In addition, I get to use the superior VOX features of my Autocom. Heaven at such a little price. |
Kuryakyn Passenger Transformer Floorboards for GL1800

I put these boards on along with Kuryakyn risers for my 5' tall wife. The two positions allow her to adjust her riding position on long trips making her more comfortable. Kuryakyn could have dome a little better in providing a complete kit and in the design of the board. First, having to disassemble the factory board to remove and reuse the springs and ball bearings is ridiculous. Second, when the boar is up, the pegs flop around. They should be designed to lock in both the up and down positions, and not be loose on the boards. 5 stars for looks and function, 3 stars for installation ease (completeness) and design, 4 stars overall. |

I installed these in order to accommodate my vertically challenged wife. At 5' tall the factory board location was a little too low for her. These worked great. I installed some Kuryakyn boards at the same time, and the installation of the risers was a breeze. Well made and nicely plated. |
