I’m giving this product a 4-star rating for a couple of reasons. But first the good. I liked the small design of the product and the final result is great. It’s actually designed to catch the attention of the cager next to you and I think it does a good job of that. The instructions are spot on and it installed exactly as described. I didn’t use the plug & play harness because I have no problem soldering. Plus it saved me $20 bucks. After splicing and soldering the wires I just taped them up with quality electrical tape. Now for a few gripes. No matter how much I cleaned the back of the mirror the double stick tape wouldn’t stick to the back of the mirror it kept coming off. I had to take a piece of sand paper and scuff up the plastic, which solved the problem. The second complaint is the cost. When you take it out of the box you’ll see what I mean. But as I’m quickly learning everything for a wing is overpriced. As a side note if you have Baker hand wings it makes installing a little more time consuming. Expect to put aside at least 30-45 minutes to install these. It states in the description that you need plug adapters @ $9.95 ea. You don’t need these if you solder the connections described in the installation manual. Good Luck.
Don't know if this is really necessary, but now that I have changed my oil after installing this I have to say it does work. I feel sure that the few metal shavings that were on the bolt when I removed it are better outside the engine then inside. For a few bucks it can't hurt.
Nice and small. A great item when you need it. Had to use it with the plug kit on a brand new bike, you never know when the Stuff is going to happen. it saved me from calling for help.
My review gave too many stars, this kit didn't work for me
I also installed according to directions, worked for a while, but rode at night a few days later and brakes lights on the trunk didn't work and the turn signals were very faint. Waiting on word from Big Bike.

Just inst5alled these, plus the https://wingstuff.com/pgroup_detail/265_Grips/23766_NEW_UPDATED_Comfort_Hand_Grip_Rest_Fits_Kuryakyn/?goto=%2Fpgroup_list%2Fgl1800%2F265_goldwing_Grips%2Fdes%2F. Look nice, took me about an hour. Tried wire to close em, not too hot so ended up using a "C" clamp which worked great and fast. Grips now feel about the right diameter, and the rubber feels real nice. Should be comfortable with the palm throttle grip too. |
they look great easy install
they look great easy to install however they scratch very easy
Really glad I purchase this item. The installation was easy. A must for that true rider.
I installed these on my trunk and they work GREAT!!! If you own a GL1800 and want to prevent paint damage when closing your trunk lid, these are a MUST HAVE ITEM. Easy installation and they work wonderful. Highly Recommend!! Frank
I pulled into a rest area at 2am a car driver parked next to me said I was falling asleep when those shinny things caught my attention. I figure they saved my life
Dang... I hate to 4 star it but I have to...easy installation..great idea..bad idea with Kuryakun floorboards. Riding in the mtns of North Ga, Tn and NC I did a bunch of dragging the pad in left hand curves. After two rides I decided to take it off. I was doing a left hand switchback on Blood Mountain, Ga and could not lean far enough into the curve. Kinda pushed me to the right. wish it worked for me. I spoke with Chad at Rivco and he is willing to work me with me on it. Thanks.
