I ordered this product for my 2009 Honda Goldwing GL1800. 1. Make sure you take off the white plastic coverings on both sides before installing. 2. Before installing I took mine to a local company and had them powder coat it to match the grey cowling color for a cost of $80 US. So glad I did as it comes back with smoother edges and should add many more years of wear to it. 3. Installing it took me approx. 90 minutes. Install the kickstand side first, taking out the side bolts with a 10 mm socket wrench. It may take some effort to get the pan hole over the bolt and inside the cowelling. Put nuts in place and lightly tighten. 4. Then do the same on the right side. With a little persistence it will go into place. Then tighten all four bolts. 5. Put on the front portion last. You'll have to bend it in shape to get a better fit. Then 1/4 tighten lug nuts. Tip: I used a piece of chrome car door plastic edging along both the front edge of the front piece to reduce rattling and along the back edge of the back piece for a smoother look. A great product. Like everyone else says it should have been installed at the factory. Thanks Wingstuff for making it available. Should be purchased by all Goldwing owners. |
| In reading the reviews on these tires I am perplexed. These tires came as OEM on my 2012 Wing. The first thing I noticed was some steering wobble at lower speeds in the front at about 3k miles. I have a fork brace but it does not help the wobble. The second thing I noticed was a "whirring" type noise at 5k miles when leaning the bike left or right. At first I did not know where the whirring noise was coming from and read online that it could be the rear tire. The online blogs and my suspicion was confirmed today. I recently got a flat on the Blue Ridge Parkway from a large puncture in the rear tire. I had the rear tire replaced today with a new Bridgestone and the whirring noise is gone but I am sure it will be a matter of time before the noise returns. These tires are ok when they have low mileage and seem to handle well in the rain but my next set will not be these Bridgestone's that's for sure. |
| the cover looks well built but i found it's not long enough on the sides. the cover barely goes over the front pegs and a good part of the front wheel is showing. I bought this cover to use while my dowco cover was being sent back for warranty. the dowco is longer on the sides and does a better of covering the bike. I would recommended the dowco because of the better fit. |
| I read so many reviews about the tabs being weak so I thought right, I'm gonna beat this. But no matter how careful I was, bang, one tab broke. They are worth it because of the look but they've really gotta sort out these tabs ay? 3 stars because of the tabs. |

When you pull off the old knob, the D clip is retained on the radio shaft and it is very hard to see. I finally found them and removed them by using a piece of Kleenex to pinch into the hole around the knob shaft. You will pull straight up and have the small D clip. Be careful!! If you drop it, your screwed! To put into the hole on the new chrome knob, I went inside, used a very small pair of pliers and gripped the D clip, oriented properly to the hole, and pushed down. Had the knob on a hard surface on top of a note pad, so as to not scratch the chrome. Then used the curve of the plier head to push the clip the rest of the way in...they fit very tightly. Once flush in the knob, then take the chrome knob to the bike, orient properly and push on..when you feel it is partially on, take the notebook again, place on top of the knob and gently tap a few times with a small ball peen hammer...any small hammer will do...just enough to finish the seating. It took me several trys to locate those darned clips as they are black! And I dropped one but thankfully found it on the carpet I had placed under the bike! Once I knew the procedure the second knob went on in under 2 minutes but that first one took more than 30 minutes...Anywho they are on and they look great. I gave a five star rating because they work and look nice, but if the seller had not helped me with some correspondence, I might have sent them back due to frustration of not finding the clips at first! Hope my explanation helps another biker out there! |
| Had these installed and love them! They give you that extra stretch in the knees we need as we get a little older and on those longer rides. I did have one MAJOR problem with them however.... I stretched my right leg out shortly after getting them installed and the peg "gave way" and dropped several positions. Can be quite. Unnerving !! What happened was that the center bolt that secures the extension arm into the clamp to the crash bar rotated itself loose and caused the arm to "slip". I put Lock Tight on the bolt and re-secured it (tightened) and it is fine now. I suggest using Lock Tight when you first install these. With the constant "on the pegs pushing down and then releasing the pegs" the arms are moving quite a bit. With that simple fix you should really have a great ride. Keep the Allen wrench with you though on the bike if you need to tighten them back up if necessary. I definitely recommend these. You will love them!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Added this light with the lighted side fender trim. The lights are NOT water proof. Water gets into the lights when I wash the bike but does drain out. Has been installed since April and still working. My one concern was how to run the wires. I removed the front fender before spring to take my time to do this right. First I drilled the holes for the wires and attached the light to the fender. Using silicone caulk, I gradually built up layers (over days) till the wires were completely covered and held to the bottom of the fender. I then soldered the wires together and installed a plug were the fender attaches to the bike. Now I can remove the fender and not have to cut any wires. |

I never liked the dull gray piece on the side cover. This really makes a huge difference on the look of the bike. Installation is easy, just pop off the side cover, remove the screws holding that old nasty grey thing to the painted cover, align the screw holes (being careful not to over tighten), reinstall cover on bike. Nice piece to dress up the side of your bike. |

Having bad knees I need to move my legs around and be able to stretch out. Even the extra room my floorboards give me is not enough to stay comfortable on a long ride. With these I can ride in comfort for long periods of time. They are well made and very solid. These are the ones to have if you are someone with longer legs. They are fully adjustable for your personal preference and take about 30 minutes to install and adjust. If you are an aggressive driver, you may scrap these occasionally but they swivel up when hit at the footrest so your chances of dumping the bike are minimal. It makes a nice early warning device for those drivers. LOL |
| When I got my 2012 Goldwing trike, I got this and my mechanic said it was good, but he recommended Bel-Ray EXP synthetic ester blend 10W-40. So, I use that now about every 5,000-10,000 miles. I am sure both are excellent for the Goldwing. |
| Wish I could add a picture of this product after 52,000 miles of riding. First thing you need to know is that this is very strong stuff. Takes a lot to dent or bend it. It comes in two pieces and the front removable cover is the part that takes the beating. My cover was smashed hard right where the oil filter is placed. The two air vent were smashed in and I believe this would have caused a problem for my oil filter. I also got to close to a cement curb and scraped up the shield along the front side. Its still in place and solid as a rock. I would never be with out it because stuff happens. |
| I have a 2012 Goldwing trike and like this accessory. I have had not issues with rattles or noise. The only thing that is a little challenging is popping off the rubber covers while riding to get something. Not super hard, but takes some practice. The extra bottle holder is great. I have drinking mugs attached to my handlebars, so you have to have a smaller bottle to turn the handlebars and not hit the bottle. Not a big deal. I got the black cubby to go with my trike's black and white theme. |
