So I got the replacement set from Wingstuff, no complaints with them their customer service is excellent.

But... the new set. I took an X-acto knife and carefully carved away all the black coating in the screw holes. Before I did that... I couldn't finger-tighten the screws into ANY of the holes. Not a single one. It's almost unbelievable these are allowed to leave the factory like this.

But anyways... I X-acto'd out all of the holes, and then I was able to start putting the screws into some of them. But there were still 3 that were just really fighting me.

I with the UTMOST of care tried to apply just a little more pressure and sure enough, the screw broke, leaving a chunk of itself down in the threads. I tried to drill it out but no go.

These grips are so poorly made with the sloppy application of the black coating (and beyond ridiculously weak screws) that I'm seriously in shock they're being sold as a ready-to-use product.

Now I've gone through 2 sets of these... and the simple act of just screwing in the screws can't be accomplished. Either I'm a complete idiot, or these just flat-out aren't being subjected to any kind of quality control.

I know this installation can seem very tough. I tried once and gave up on it, the side cover won't budge and the only solution I thought of was cutting V groves.
Today I gave it a second try, took out the two bolts on the side and the front cowl screw also, pulled the side cover out with a constant pressure and a few firm jerks, it slid of the bolts enough for me to slide the cover over the bolts. Did the same thing on the other side.
The trick is to pull the cover out giving constant jerks while pulling with firm pressure.
Very good product.

3-Way Adjustable Highway Peg Mounts Chrome
ITEM CODE: PG38037

09.26.2018
There are few options out there for Highway Pegs for the 2018 Goldwing. Rivco was the first to step up and people seem to be happy with this option. I wanted more of a foot rest not just a peg so I was waiting out something from Kuryakyn. Still nothing. So I pulled the trigger for the Goldstrike option. Very pricey at $389.00 but they look good, appear to be very well built and most important very comfortable. There is good adjustability. The installation instructions are OK but there could be improvement there. To do a very careful neat install did take me a couple of hours.
If you can accept the high price you'll be very happy in the end. I am !!

VStream Quantum Hard Coated Windshield for GL1800
ITEM CODE: PG24215

my V-stream has 7 yrs & 100k mi+ now on a 2010 GW. just returned from 9k mi AK trip. The top is starting to craze now, but overall very good shape for the mileage. One reviewer mentioned the rainbow colors he sees thru the shield- he must be wearing polarized sunglasses as this is called the Newton Ring effect- most contoured coated plastic optics will exhibit this effect. I will be ordering a new V-Stream, so cannot comment on ease of installation, etc. vey good product.

The triangular bracket broke fairly quickly for me as well. So I used it as a pattern and made a new bracket out of 1/8" aluminum plate. Very ridgid now!

Black Ride Off Center Stand for GL1800
ITEM CODE: CJ1800BL,   SKU: CJ1800BL

09.20.2018
Having knee issues, I wanted to have a way to better support the bike when my passenger gets on and off.
This Ride Off stand does just that.

Plus's: When stopped at the end of the ride, I can use the bikes reverse to set the bike up on the stand, with both of us on board. I can also simply ride off, again when we're both on board. Installation is easy as long as you know the right ride fastener is reverse thread.

With no one on board and putting the bike up on this stand like the original, you have to be show and careful. The bike will go up on the stand real quick and easy! I mean really easy!

This is not the OEM or original stand. One must be prepared for that.
Some things I cannot do with this stand is rotate the rear tire to check the tread for nails when it's up on this stand. I can also not rotate the front tire, sliding it on it's tread surface, like I could do on the OEM center stand.
A block of plywood can be used under this stand's feet to raise the rear tire off the ground along with the suspension height adjustment at zero. However even with a 3/4 inch thick piece of plywood, the rear tire still touched the concrete floor. Also with this stand up on a board, it will take 2 people to rock the bike off the "ride off" center stand. The pressure on the rear tire will not allow one to ride off if the stand is engaged with wood. There is just not enough traction.
So my point is that in order to rotate the tires, a motorcycle jack is the best bet. One can always check tires or get the valve stem in filling position by rolling the bike on the ground. That's the standard with bikes that have only a side stand.

This ride off stand is a great choice for my knee situation. It is vary stable to board the bike. No reduced lean clearance like a Landing-Gear system or trike converting zero lean. And under $200.... worth the differences and feature over the OEM center stand.

I went for a short ride after installing this, they hold up exceptionally well.
The Wing feels more planted.
I did install the MBL Accessories bar also. The combination has really helped me in getting a comfortable feel from the front end.

First off I've had this Fender Extension on for the past 9 years. To make this work without breaking it. Forget using those supplied attachment strips. Instead purchase some abs Pipe Glue that Plumbers use to seal pipes. I applied a liberal amount on the extension and on the underside of the fender then clamped it in place until dry. I've done one repost to the attachment area in the 9 years that the extension's been attached.

I purchased the Deluxe Bushtec v2 ball hitch for my 2012 GL1800 and am very satisfied with the product except that a chrome steel ball was substituted for the advertised stainless hitch ball without notice. Bushtec said they had not recently offered a stainless ball with the deluxe ball kit and Wingstuff said in response to my concern on Sep 12, 2018:
"Dear Sir, Apologize for the misprint on our site. The info there was taken from Bushtec site years ago. There are no stainless steel balls available. The chrome one is fine as that's what comes with all other hitches. Feel free to take your trip and I will e-mail our site person about changing the description on the product."
There was no offer of a credit or other treatment and the site still says a stainless ball is included. Beware!
