Rick’s Reviews Episode 10: FOBO TPMS

Posted In: News

A good TPMS that works for you can be hard to find. If your Wing has one built in, it may or may not be all you want or need. The dash indicator lights up when your tire pressure is too low, you pull over to the side of the road to check it out and address the issue. It’s a great safety feature, but some riders might be looking for something that does more…

Rick was out riding one weekend and happened to bump into a longtime customer. While they were talking, the customer asked Rick if he had ever heard of a TPMS called FOBO, which he hadn’t. The guy had a lot of great things to say about the product so, when Rick got back from his ride, he did some research and ordered one so he could evaluate it for himself.

That was months ago and now Rick is excited to share his thoughts and insights on the FOBO Bluetooth TPMS and how it has helped enhance his overall riding experience. But we don’t want to give too much away so tune in to our latest installment of Rick’s Reviews where he will talk about the added convenience and control when using this system.

Ride safe!

I've had the FOBO on my 09 Wing for about a year. It is a great product and always reads within 1/2 lb. of psi according to my digital pressure gauge. Only issue I've had, (and haven't been able to resolve), is that I got a new phone and now can't get the sensors to sync. I'm sure it's likely my lack of tech skills that is the problem. But, it was a breeze to set-up originally!

I've had problems with my FOBO's almost from day one. They don't operate consistently. I bought two sets. (for bike and trailer) When one quit working I bought a fifth FOBO. Soon that quit working too. Not the batteries. I've tried new batteries more than once. As a test, I've installed a set on a different trailer and they worked, moved them back to the bike neither worked again.

I've had these on my 08 for 18 months and am glad I have them. But:
1. Do not install the sensors on rubber bent valve stems. Trust me! They can cause the valve stem to break at the rim hole.
2. Buy the metal valve stems they sell as an extra. Well worth it since my rubber stem broke during a spirited ride returning from Vermont on my way home to NY. The alert came on as my valve stem failed.
3. Their customer service is excellent. I changed my cell and had to reboot but didn't know how. Sent an email and promptly received a reply. Problem solved!

Isn't TPMS standard on newer Wings?
