I have been impressed
*** Updated 04-06-2018 *** I have 6,000 miles on the tires, they still look new and ride great. I love the tires. I would have been close to replacing (or replacing by now) a set of Bridgestones. No complaints. *** I recently finished a 7,250-mile road trip from Texas to the northwestern states. I had about 9,000 miles on the OEM Bridgestones and had to replace them. I wanted a tire that could give me much better mileage but still provide the comfort the Bridgestones did. After researching these and some convincing input from a local bike repair shop which primarily serves Harley's, I decided to go with these tires. The one thing I was concerned about was the comfort they would provide. I am a fan of the darkside for the mileage (ran a Bridgestone Driveguard for 30,000 miles on rear), but not for the handling. And though I didn't think I noticed the rougher ride, my wife didn't like the Darkside tire, so what the heck, I went back to OEM Bridgestones. Well, I say I was concerned because I found all sorts of great things about these tires, but everyone seemed totally silent on the "comfortable ride" part. I couldn't find anything or anyone talking about that. But I did it anyway and put them on (front and rear). Another potential concern was that in my research, I found riders who complained about this tire wanting to follow tar snakes. A few people complained about the ride on grooved pavement with these tires. My results? Holy smokes! Far superior to the darkside handling and comfort (I ran 42 PSI due to TPMS), and I would rate them superior in comfort and handling to the Bridgestones. I really, really like them. They are great in rain and really stick to the road. I had absolutely no problem whatsoever with them wanting to follow tar snakes. And as for grooved pavement, they performed much better than the OEM Bridgestones. Will it get the mileage the darkside offers? Of course not, but if I can pull off 15,000 - 20,000 miles, I would consider it a success. As for the wife, she says she will pay for the comfort these tires give her versus the darkside. (I am not against the darkside by the way). Some of my research indicated you can exceed 20,000 miles on the rear tire, and my repair shop that provided the input? He showed me a Dunlop Elite 3 he took off a Harley with 23,000 miles on it with very little wear evident... Yeah, not a Goldwing, but still. The tire looked great. And the Elite 4 was engineered for more mileage than the Elite 3, but with soft rubber for traction on the sides. Now, two things I offer as a disclaimer. I only have 3,000 on them, but it has been a great 3,000 miles. I am hoping to get some great mileage out of them, but that is a hope at this point. The second disclaimer is that I purchased Centramatics from Wingstuff and had them installed with the brand new Dunlop Elite 4's. How much of the comfort, handling, great ride on tar snakes and grooved pavement is the result of the Centramatics? I don't know. But what a difference the combination makes. I am sold on Centramatics and the Elite 4, for now. Assuming I don't run into issues in the miles ahead, I am sticking with these tires. Also, if I only get 10,000-12,000 miles out of them (unlikely I think), I will still stay with these tires. Final comment... I am not against the Darkside. I know 42 PSI seems a tad bit high on pressure, and perhaps that was an issue with the rougher ride my wife complained about. The TPMS warned me if I went lower and I am not changing it just because of the darkside tire. As for anyone else's negative experiences with tar snakes and grooved pavement, I believe you had the issues - but I didn't. In fact, with the Centramatics, I rode over tar snakes with zero issue, and some of the grooved pavement was rather severe that I rode over with zero issues. |

Dunlop E4 front and rear for my Goldwing Gl1800
I've owned 2 different set of Bridgestones for two different Goldwings GL1800, I wanted to try something different so I went with Dunlop E4's. So far I like the Dunlops better, the rear tire doesn't get worn down flat as faster because of the center tire reinforcement, handles better, appears to last longer. I will buy Bridgestone if I want to save a few bucks, but if I have a choice Dunlops would be my first pick. Sincerely Chriscaliente |

Apprehensive
Well I have about 9500 miles or more on these tires front and back. I run centramatics with them and i can say the tires show very little wear. it would nit surprise me at all if I got another 6-8K out of them or more. They stick to the road very well. I say apprehensive in the title because after I got these tires put on my bike developed a sweet front end wobble at about 35-45 mph. which was never there before so I am unsure if the tires are the cause or....Other than that I like the tire. If I was to learn the wobble is cause from something else then these would get a 6 star rating. |

Dunlop E4
Well I have 7500 miles on my E4s and don’t see them getting much more than 10000. A very stable ride always @ 41 psi. One of the best and I have tried all the popular brands. But the sides are already very very close to the wear bars. The middle is holding up well. Don’t know how any one can get 18000 miles on any bike tires never have I seen it done. Of course I have not been riding to long only 50 yrs. I am not sure what tire I will use in the future. I do really like the cornering traction, the super stable ride, less cupping than any of the others. But the mileage has me a bit concerned. I usually get 10000 to 12000 on the other brands. |

update on review
12,000 miles on these tires and the front still looks amazing. I changed the back tire today. I really think it has a few thousand more miles in it, but i ride long distance and i get a little paranoid. Im not sure what they changed but its a vast improvement over the E3. |

First set on F6B
I reserve "5 Stars" for the ultimate tire - I ain't found it yet. The E4s are a VERY good tire. This is my first set, got 19,000 miles on the Front & Rear. Probably another 3-4k still left in them. I meticulously maintain 40F/41R psi at the start of every ride. Living in Florida, instead of the 318 curves in 11 miles like the Dragon, we have 318 miles with 11 curves. I went through 2 sets of Bridgestone tires at 18,000 miles per set, and I wanted to try the E4s due to the dual compounding - being harder in the center - for the riding style I have to accept in this part of the country, but I also wanted a tire that could let me play in the mountains as well. These are a great compromise for what I want. I think what some people are referring to for the tar snakes is the harder center giving way to the softer outside and then the traction kicks on. For the reviewer who had issues on the grated bridge - I have traveled many on both the 'Stones and E4s and never had that issue. I think my 40 psi in the front might help me there. For future purchase? I'm getting more wear out of the E4s, but they cost more than the 'Stones. It'll probably honestly boil down to which company is having a sale as I get ready to replace the tires. Cheers! |

Even better than the E3 addition
One thing I forgot to mention. I bead balance my tires. If you have never tried it, you should. As your tires wear the balance changes from when you first installed them. The beads keep the balance perfectly from the first mile to the last. This will eliminate your handle bar wobble, and better handling on grooved concrete. |

Even better than the E3
I bought these tires about 5 weeks ago, and have almost 6,000 miles on them. Ran them in temperatures from 28°f to 103°f.Went thru 9 western states, elevations from 2500' to 10,956'(Bear tooth pass). The tires are still very round and no cupping like i experienced with my E3. Im not sure what they did so different, but its day and night on groved concrete. With the E4 I almost don't even know that I'm on it. Don't get that riding on ice feeling i got with the E3. Don't get me wrong I was mad when they stopped making the E3,but the E4 in my opinion are way better. I run them on a 2005 GL1800. My rides are usually 500-1100 miles in a day. This set has about 7-8 hours in the ran and not one slip. I can't speak for other touring bikes but as far as the GL1800, can't go wrong with these tires. I'll try and update my total mileage when i wear them out. |

Dunlap Elite 4 tires
I am on my second E4 rear and first E4 front. I commute on a 2013 GL1800 Audio Comfort at 500 miles a week, apox 80 mph. I have no complaints. The only thing is you have to maintain the correct tire pressure. 2 lbs off and you get a different scary ride in the corners. This will be my second combo set as I am replacing both tires this time. Mine are wearing out 2 rear to 1 front. |

Elite 4 front tire danger !
I have E4 on both front/rear positions on my '05 Gl1800. About 5k on them and the rear is wearing and preforming fine. However the front E4 in certain conditions is scary ! Rubber snakes and grooved pavement cause an uncomfortable feeling. The big problem is on open grated metal sections of bridges----the handlebar wobble is awful. No, I would not put an E4 on the front of my GoldWing again. In fact I feel Dunlop should replace my front tire because of the safety factor. |

Fantastic tires!
I honestly don't know why other reviewers give these tires 3-4 stars. To me they are an upgrade from my Elite 3s and I love the handling and road hugging that I get from them. I have yet to ride them in the rain but that day will come no doubt. Great tires! |

1 Star Upgrade
See my earlier review "Hang Onto Your Bars" for background. I now have the E4 on both front and back. There is still the tracking issue when you get on grooved cement. However, once I have adjusted to the eerie feel it is not quite as disconcerting. Only 4 stars because of this issue. The upgrade from 3 stars is because the wear on these tires seems to be even better than the E3. I believe I will be getting much longer mileage out of these tires. |
