A better solution?
I have 58k mi on this solution for those who use a luggage rack and/ or experience chaffing of the interior lid, which will happen- period. Take a sufficient length of ~ 1/4 or 3/8" clear polymer, flexible tubing that can be bought at Home Depot, etc & slide this tubing inside the gasket already on the lid. Wet or lube it & push until it returns to the opening/ slit (gasket is slit at bottom of Lid), then trim as needed. This gives the gasket greater support under loads from luggage rack. has worked for 58k mi thus far. |

Well worth it
Wish I'd known about these before the paint started to rub in the trunk lid.. Takes away all the rattle that developed after I started using a luggage rack. Easy install if you use the template and don't pull too sharply on the lugs. |

A solution looking for a problem
So I'm a new 2014 GL1800 owner (but old rider) and I'm just surfing through WingStuff looking for things to spend money on when I come upon "Baby Buggy Bumpers". Remember, I'm new to the 'wing, so I've gotta read about this. I'm not surprised when I read that they help prevent trunk lid abrasion, because when I took my bike on an "inaugural" 4,000 mile jaunt down south, I noticed this abrasion every time I unloaded the trunk for the night. To eliminate the problem, I went to Home Depot, bought some Velcro dots and just applied them (felt side only) to the chaffing points inside the lip of the trunk lid - there are 14 little dots that get rubbed into the lid, so locating the right spots is not difficult. Clean the lid with alcohol first. No fuss, no muss, 10 minute job, problem solved. And, absolutely no problem opening or closing the lid, although it doesn't pop up when the remote is triggered ... this should be my biggest problem in life. Extra benefit - I've you don't like what the Velcro does, take it off and the drill your holes for the bumpers. Anyway, even though I didn't buy these little bumpers, I did read about the problems with them. For those of you who don't like to overthink things (like me), here's my brief take. Why anyone would want to line up a template, drill 4 holes into a $1,000 trunk lid, struggle to pull the little buggers through said holes and THEN have to shave off some material just to make it all work is beyond me. These bumpers seem like over engineering to solve a simple problem at it's finest. But hey, that's just me and I hope they do work well for you. |

Second Review
As I have previously stated in a prior review, These do what they are intended to do, but they are not the best cure all. They WILL make your trunk very hard to close and lock, and hard to open also. Again, Do Not Waste Your Money. After having them on my trunk for a year, I removed them. Any one who makes a comment about another reviewer's opinion, is not a review that you can put any trust in. Not Worth the Money ...... better options out there. |

Kinda hard to insert
I used a lot of spit and patience inserts these buggers. But no more misalignment and chaffing. Be advised. You gotta slam the trunk until they compress a bit. |

Rubber Bumpers?? The jury is still out on this one.
Installed them last weekend, not sure about them. Firstly the template didnt seem to be exact. Hence the bumpers at the top of the box near the seat backrest were very hard to fit as the brace for the top box interferred with pulling the bumpers through the drilled hole. I broke two of the ends off mine. Luckily I had spares from my mates set. His went on better because we adjusted the template to suit where we wanted to drill as opposed to where it said to drill. Yes the top box is hard to close but I reckon the bumpers will soften up in time and all will be good...stay tuned for further developments. At least they didnt cost the earth to purchase, so no harm no foul if I throw them away in 6 months time. Will just have to wait and see. |

Worth The Money
Instructions ( Simple, Easy, and Clear ) Installation : Once you cut the template, tape it in place. Drill a Small pilot hole first. Then the 1/4 " hole. I took grease and put it on the bottom portion of the rubber buddy and in my holes i drilled. Then pulled on the rubber piece a few times stretching them. The front holes, pulled right thru with needle nose. The back holes i used a small screw driver to push them in. Worked like a dream. Shuts fine and the rattling gone. Some people just complain. |

Don't wast your time or money ....
After having these on for a year and a half, I finally took them off. I found there to be NO wear in and fitting better. Lid was always hard to open and hard to close. I just bought me some of the soft material stick on bumpers and applied in the ares susceptible to rubbing. It works better in my opinion. |

They do the job,,,,, but,,,
....Some have complained about lid closing issues. Align as best you can with the template provided. After it is all said and done, angle file the high sides of the bumpers to allow the lid to shut and respond to the remote key lock. If you needed these, your lid didn't fit right in the first place anyway. Make it work. Don't gripe about the design, gripe to yourself about the install. |

A trade off not worth it
After putting these on, it was difficult to pop open the trunk. Even harder to get the trunk to close. So I ended up having to slam the trunk very hard to get it to close, and hitting the trunk with my fist to get the latch to open. I don't like slamming or hitting my GoldWing, so I removed the bumpers. Instead, I glued a couple of small pieces of rubber on the spots that were rubbing inside the trunk liner, problem solved without all the extra wear and tear of a poorly fitting trunk. |

No more rattle
This went much easier than I thought with the help of my Brother-in-law And we are looking forward to the install on his 01GL 1800, as we discussed It did go very good with team work, as for closing the lid as per the directions, worked very well for me Remember “read the instructions.†|
