| I am glad I purchased the Kuyraken hitch. The directions were easy, the build quality was solid, the base plate makes it better than the other hitches that only cost $200. I plan to use it for a hitch rack to hold an ice chest. When removing the back licence plate panel I sprayed silicon lubricant for easy removal and easy reinstall. |

So far so good
| Fairly easy to install. Seems to be well built. Time will tell how it holds up but so far I'm impressed. It's been the best fit of any kuryaken part I've bought so far. |

Change out the bolts that are substituted for the tip over protection bars
| First, let me say that I like the hitch and used it a lot for a while. When I received the hitch, it arrived with replacement bolts for the tip-over protection. The bolts I received are not automotive quality and should be Class 10 (metric) / Grade 8 (SAE). The bolts that are supplied with the hitch are metric flange head M8 1.25 x 25mm. They are probably Class 8 or Grade 5 material, not suitable for the tip-over protection. I use the tip-over protection as tie-down points when I trailer the bike and the bolts that I received/installed sheared off and caused massive damage as the bike thrashed around the back of my trailer. DO NOT TRUST these bolts. If you know how to read the symbology on the bolt head and you can confirm they are the appropriate grade, you should be ok. If not, get proper replacements...about 6 of them. |

Easy Install
| Ordered this tuesday afternoon and had it on thursday. Great service. Easy install. Take your time, read the instructions. Total time 2 hours. Also installed the kury isolation harness. That added about another hour. Quality product and as usual great service. Thanks Wingstuff. |

Trailer hitch
| Just installed this hitch assembly last weekend. Not to hard to do. It's completely invisible when not in use. A little tip: it may seem easier to you to take off your exhaust to install this item and you would be correct....except....you'll have a hard time getting those pipes back on because the tubing of this hitch assembly runs parallel to the exhaust mounts. |

What next
| Once installed the unit looks and functions great. Some things you should know. The recommended wiring harness is made fairly obvious and is easy to install. However they are selling you the hitch under the 1st gen GL1800 section so they should tell you that there is an other part you will need to convert the 5 wire goldwing/hitch harness into a 4 wire system on the trailer. You need to order the Kuryakin 7675 converter or wire your own with diodes. |

Learned the hard way
| I recently discovered that the towbar ball mount is actually not beefy enough to tow trailers for too many years. I use it to have a suitcase rack once in a while and this year I'm finding that the towbar is sagging due to the thin material the ball is mounted to. Just check out the newer hitch for the next gen 1800s and you'll see the towbar is beefier. Also notice that the trailer chains actually hook to the towbar and not to the hitch itself so if the pin breaks you still lose the trailer, whereas the new hitch for the next Gen's have the chains hooking to the hitch itself. My solution was to get an L angle bracket adapter and use a normal ball receiver. So lesson learned is look really close to what you're buying because I don't think this hitch is safe enough. |

Easy to Install
| I installed the hitch yesterday, and it only took an hour and half. The install was straight forward. I did leave the long bolt installed in the heim joint and slid the trunion bars into place. Then tighten the heim joint before I tighten the rest of the bolts to the rear crash bar. Doing it this way you don't have the issue of trying to put the washer and nut on the long bolt. There isn't room to reach the bolt with the saddlebag being in the way. The hitch is solid. My trailer loaded weighs less then 275 pounds. I see no issues at all with this hitch. Great product. |
