Vertical Trailer Hitch for GL1800 1st Gen

Learned the hard way
I recently discovered that the towbar ball mount is actually not beefy enough to tow trailers for too many years. I use it to have a suitcase rack once in a while and this year I'm finding that the towbar is sagging due to the thin material the ball is mounted to. Just check out the newer hitch for the next gen 1800s and you'll see the towbar is beefier. Also notice that the trailer chains actually hook to the towbar and not to the hitch itself so if the pin breaks you still lose the trailer, whereas the new hitch for the next Gen's have the chains hooking to the hitch itself. My solution was to get an L angle bracket adapter and use a normal ball receiver. So lesson learned is look really close to what you're buying because I don't think this hitch is safe enough. |

I put one on each side tie wrapped to the radiator grill. Found out it gets a bit too hot and the hot glue inside the pucks melts and makes a mess. It's cleanable but now, not all the LED's are working. Don't put them near the radiator or anything hot. |
