Works exactly as advertised. Keeps you cool and dry. Haven't tried it on a long trip but it's great around town when it's hot out.
This is a must have for charity rides. Cut a plastic sheet protector down on two sides to fit. Put ride directions in sheet protector then in map holder. That way you won't get an ink transfer to the plastic map holder.
I purchased this item a copule of months back, after I had a flat on the road. If I would have already had this it would have saved me several hours of down time waiting to get off the road. This repair kit is something that should be standard on the bike along with the "Slime" air compressor. Overall, when I do have to use it, I am sure it will have earned all 5 starts.
What a great addition to the bike. I love it when you add something that is so simple to install and you end up with great styling. They really look like they belong on the bike!
Sehr hohe Qualität, einfache Montage super Optik
We went with the plug and play GL1800 kit that gives 5 wires. 1-ground, 2-brakes, 3-running lights, 4-left turnsignal, 5-right turnsignal. I must say that this unit was very easy to install on a friends bike and I liked the plug and play wiring. The relay was easy to stuff into the open area in the upper inner fender under the top box. We used a stiff wire to fish the power and ground wires from the battery to the rear fender without removing the seat. I don't know why they wanted you to remove the seat. You still have to by your own connectors for the trailer and the bike ends. Get the 5 wire flat ones, They are normally used for trailers with brakes, but the Quick KampII that we were hooking up had modular taillights and we were able to light them all up. The relay is encased in resin so I don't expect any problems with it. Everything went as instructed in the directions and It was successfully installed. I'd use one of these kits on my bike if I ever decided to pull a trailer.
The trick is tightening the top side nylon lock nuts on the top of the crashbar brackets. They don't tell you how to do that. The clearances are non-existant. I went onto GL1800riders.com and posted a question and the response was to loosen the saddlebags and swing them away enough for you to get a wrench on the upper bolts. Haven't tried that yet so I don't know if it will work. Other than that, It is a well made hitch with one exception. Kuryakyn had you reuse the cheap, flimzy lower support bracket. They actually attach the lower clamps on the receiver plate to this lightweight hollow aluminum brace. I can't imagine why they didn't just run the receiver plate out to the two attachment points on the saddlebag support tubes and have you remove the brace It would have been a lot stronger in my opinion.
Got several parts one was the mount with the 2 ball mount. I used it on the clutch handle side. Bolts up and looks like it came with the bike. I also got a 6 in arm and a 3.5 in. and a waterproof case to put my cell phone in as I have a Scala Rider blue tooth on my helmet for the cell phone.

Great product. Gopt the leather wrappped one that mounts on the front brake handle. Works well although I have the GL with an Airbag, this could get in the way of the Airbag. Hope I never have to find out. Ride Safe. |

Nice fit, looks good. I removed the fairing pockets to fish the wires to the mirrors. A bit longer to install but easier to route the wires. |
I love the rest but had some problems with install. Frame is aluminum and I didn't put the bike on the center stand and I stripped the threads on on the left side. Had to drill them out and use helacoils to repair. Turned a 15 minute job into 3 hours. Great product just be careful lining up your bolts as you can strip them out fairly easily.
An update from my previous review above. It finally got warm enough in the garage to install these lights. Trunk install took me about 1.5 hours and the saddlebags 3 hours. Pretty straight forward install with good instructions - I'm just slow and carefull. Very happy with the end result. I have taken several day and night photos to view on my photo gallery to look at given the ugly photo on the left. Very solid pieces and look great. I'm sure they will look even better when I get around to cleaning my bike! Bonus feature is these plug into the braking system as well so all lights become more intense when the brakes are on so even folks beside you know you are braking! Saddle bag lights require drilling two holes per saddlebag but the instructions made it clear how and where to do them. Will give an update about their durability in the future.
