Just had these installed with around 9300 miles on the stock D250's, which still have plenty of life left and only minor cupping (no wobble, noise, or odd handling). Had them put on when I went to the dealership to have my tire stems changed out to full metal and mount my Doran TPMS sensors inside the tire. The mechanic and the staff there had never heard of Centramatic and asked me several times what they were (Almost smirking, like it was a gimmick) and asking how they were supposed to work - the tech even called me back into the maintenance bay to show me his clearence concerns for the ABS and calipers.... I literally had to talk them into putting them on, telling them I purchased from WingStuff (Which seemed to be just enough to convice them) and that the instructions clearly state that they apply to ALL GL1800 models. I also reminded them that there is a tech assistance # on the instructions ..... funny enough, the mechanic was Mr. Confident after that. Finally they were finished, the tech took a test ride on it, brought it back and just said, "wow, now that was smooth". Although my stock D250's weren't causing any major issues and I have never experienced the "low-speed-wobble" others speak of, I was able to tell some difference with the Centramatics installed. I can't say its night and day, but, it was there ...... and if it gets me extended tire life and smoother ride, I think the cost is justified. I did not hear any "swishing" at low speeds as other reviews mentioned (but with a 3/4 helmet on, maybe I couldn't hear this). At the very least, it is piece of mind since I know I added weight with the TPMS sensors and I'm too cheap to get my tires re-balanced at intervals. The only suggestion I would have for Centramatic would be to include a note for skeptical mechanics, such as, "Yes, this will fit on an ABS model" and "Feel free to call us so we can assure you it is OK to install this on a customer's bike without fear it will blow up and you'll face a liability law-suit" :o) Great product! |
I just installed this filter and here are my comments. The throttle response is much more crisp. Now as far as installation goes. This is not a hard job to do however you must be patient. Look at Steve's video this helps a lot. Lay out all the screws in order don't mix them up (very important). Overall if you don't mind spending two to three hours working on your bike it's not really that hard just be patient and don't pry anything. If you just want it done without the agrivation then bring it to a dealer. Overall I will do the cleaning and recharging myself because I enjoy working on my baby.
Fitted this just to the right of the left side vent under the speaker. Took power wire direct from + side of Aux plug and earth clamped under handlebar clamp bolt. Is out of the way yet very visable. Also very protected against weather
Did not work for me. I had to eventually get a proffesional from the Honda Shop to try to install this. He said I was having problems because the thing was bad from the get go. We ended up throwing it away and I spent a little more money and got a Kuryokin. It worked fantastic. When I compared this one to the Kuryakin the difference was night and day. This one was light weight and cheap looking compared to the Kuryakin which was much more heavier duty. You get what you pay for.
What a mind relief it is knowing this is always charging my battery. This thing has been a blessing. Its great to get on my bike and have it fire up good and strong after it has had to sit for a month or longer because of bad weather or just no opportunity to ride. This Battery Tender works just like it says it will. Everyone who has to park their bike periodically needs to get one of these. GREAT ITEM!!!
Not only was this easy to put on but it looks hot. I really like the confidence I have knowing how well it protects the paint job from those pesky pebbles being kicked up from the road by the vehicle in front of you.
Overall, looks great once installed. A little disappointed after a day of riding. 3 lights on my trunk are flickering on and off, mainly off. I feel a little cheated on the quality.
This is AWESOME. Super easy installation, just snaps into place. I bought this as an addition to the Kuryakyn Driver's Stainless Drink Holder for holding 16 oz. drink bottles. SUGGEST WINGSTUFF TO ADD AS A "PACKAGE DEAL:.
This is AWESOME. Super easy installation. You will need to have the correct size allen wrench though. Super convenient and not at all in the way of controls. Adds to riding comfort on long trips. Highly suggest adding the KU1459: Kuryakyn Cruiser Universal Beverage Carrier that snaps onto this holder for 16 oz. drink bottles. SUGGEST WINGSTUFF TO ADD AS A "PACKAGE DEAL:.

1st & foremost. They are well built. This is the 1st time using a heel / toe shifter. I hope it gets easier to look graceful. I find the brake pedal to be high, which results in lifting brake foot off floorboard, I double checked position and it is correct. I may lower one notch in a few weeks if I don't get the hang of it. Better now then during summer traffic. That is why I give it a 4 rating. |
The unit install is a little cumbersome compared to putting one on my GL1500. (different model) The edges were sharp, so had to pay attention. Not sure how the fasteners will hold up, time will tell. The main thing is it will protect the bottom!
