All I can say is.... Who needs a trailer, when you have this thing. Seems to hold alot more that it looks like it will. Lots & lots of neat compartments all around, with a nice deep, full compartment in the center. Locks securly to the rack with the 2 rods. I installed this with exhaust turn downs and a mud flap, must be why mine stays pretty clean.
I have had my Cobra's installed for just one year now, and did not put all that many miles on the bike in the summer of 10, I installed the Dyna beads along with these tires and mounted them myself using the lashing strap method which really works slick. The tires seem to handle and corner very well and so far I have had no vibration issues using the dyna beads, the only reason I gave them a 4 stars was that here in wisconsin they like to do a lot of the "snake patch" (least thats what I call it) where they fill the cracks with the tar and throw some gravel over it, those things become like driving on ball bearings on ice if you hit them on a hot day, and these tires only seemed to aggrivate that problem even more. With that being said, it is my only complaint about the tires so far, I have averaged a high of 10,000 miles out of the stock tires and a low of less then 6 on a set of metzlers, I will be anxious to see if I can top the 10,000 mark with this set, everything I have read so far would tend to lead me to believe that wont be a problem. Wingstuff did a great job in delivery, very quick and speedy, at a great price
Both sides are basically the same , clean you panel good...tweak your new chrome cover to fit....peel off protective cover and stick it on. Take your time and do it right....you only get one shot at it.
With the Honda Voltmeter in place this is a must along with the oppisite side plate... just a little tweaking and the fit is right on. Looks great. Like some of these other products ... make sure you use some alcohol to clean the pane real good ... and once you get it fitted ... peel the protective film off and stick on ..... you get one shot at it...so make it good.
Nice rack, well made and finished. I bought this one because it is minimal in size and doesn't appear to overwhelm the trunk. I agree that the template ifor drilling is inadequate and can allow for errors. W would suggest taping a large sheet of paper over the trunk and locating rack on top where you want it. Then mark circles around mounting stand offs, remove rack, center crosshairs inside previously drawn circles and drill at the intersections of crosshairs.
Depending on what you have added already to your Wing...this should take you about an hour to install. Its pretty easy just get ya an easy seat and take your time... Once you're finished you will love it. One more of those little items we need that should come with the bike but of course doesnt...It's worth the money and the little bit of time it takes to install it. And it just plain looks good.
Lower side covers need to be moved over the attaching studs, to allow for belly pan insertion. Found it best to keep them warm & pliable to facilitate installation.
Nice set but I cut plastic tabs off, took zipper off the ear muff piece that come with helmet, sewed or had it done, to headset vinyl that wires run in, now they stay in when I zip in or out, nice product when you do this, they did not stay in helmet well with velcro strips.

If I could see how they are mounted and to what behind passenger backrest, I am almost 90% sure I would purchase a set, also show how cup holder is mounted. Raymond

Just had these installed with around 9300 miles on the stock D250's, which still have plenty of life left and only minor cupping (no wobble, noise, or odd handling). Had them put on when I went to the dealership to have my tire stems changed out to full metal and mount my Doran TPMS sensors inside the tire. The mechanic and the staff there had never heard of Centramatic and asked me several times what they were (Almost smirking, like it was a gimmick) and asking how they were supposed to work - the tech even called me back into the maintenance bay to show me his clearence concerns for the ABS and calipers.... I literally had to talk them into putting them on, telling them I purchased from WingStuff (Which seemed to be just enough to convice them) and that the instructions clearly state that they apply to ALL GL1800 models. I also reminded them that there is a tech assistance # on the instructions ..... funny enough, the mechanic was Mr. Confident after that. Finally they were finished, the tech took a test ride on it, brought it back and just said, "wow, now that was smooth". Although my stock D250's weren't causing any major issues and I have never experienced the "low-speed-wobble" others speak of, I was able to tell some difference with the Centramatics installed. I can't say its night and day, but, it was there ...... and if it gets me extended tire life and smoother ride, I think the cost is justified. I did not hear any "swishing" at low speeds as other reviews mentioned (but with a 3/4 helmet on, maybe I couldn't hear this). At the very least, it is piece of mind since I know I added weight with the TPMS sensors and I'm too cheap to get my tires re-balanced at intervals. The only suggestion I would have for Centramatic would be to include a note for skeptical mechanics, such as, "Yes, this will fit on an ABS model" and "Feel free to call us so we can assure you it is OK to install this on a customer's bike without fear it will blow up and you'll face a liability law-suit" :o) Great product! |
