I own a 2010 Goldwing and bought this harness because it stated it fit my year of bike, however it does not. 2005-2010 Goldwings have a 6 plug harness where this one is a 4 plug. This harness would work for 2001-2005 Goldwings only. The customer service was very helpful and my return is in process as of this review.
Have to say I'm a bit disappointed with this. As with the VStream I went for the 16" version given my lack of vertical stature. I feel that the screen is well over priced for what it is. It feels a bit flimsy compered to the VStream and original and is nowhere near as well made. The original and VStream both have beautifilly finished edges all round. The F4 is very badly finished around the edges, seemingly just rough cut with a jigsaw with no attempt to finish it off properly. It looked horrible on the bike until I carefully cleaned up all of the edges. They seem to make much of the optical qualities of the polycarbonate used and scratch resistant coating, I suppose to justify the price. Well I am blessed with very good eyesight and can see no obviously visual difference in optical quality between this and the other two screens. Also I've had no scratching issues with the other two screens. All that said it does work quite well on the bike. Even in its lowest position it offers a bit more protection and slightly less wind noise than the VStream with less wind on the arms so it is better for, colder and wet weather. I just can't see how they can charge so much more for it than I paid for the VStream. If I knew when I ordered it what I know now I think I'd have checked out cheaper options first.
I'm short (5' 7") so went with the 16" version as I find the original screen a little tall. The screen is very well made. However the diagram provided to show the screen shape relative to the original is a bit misleading. The screen I received is quite a bit narrower at the bottom than the original, not the same width as the diagram shows, but the width is as shown at the top. In it's lowest position there is some wind noise around my helmet but no significant buffeting. By raising it slightly but still below standard height, that noise is eliminated. It allows a bit more wind on the arms than the standard screen but I like that in the warmer summer months. Overall I like it but also have a wider F4 Customs shield as well for a bit of extra width at the base when I want it.
Well made and good value for money but as Tony has pointed out the screws supplied are too long. I was ready for that given what Tony had said so didn't just blindly screw them in without checking. Luckily I had some suitable shorter screws to hand so used them. But the screw issue it would have been 5 stars.
I don't know how these compare to the Honda branded set but these are good quality and fit the trunk and saddlebags very well. For what you pay for them they represent very good value for money.
I Like the hoodie because as wing pilots we have nothing much out there with our logo . So I was happy when this hoodie came out. But this hoodie is already starting to rip at the pocket. So if you buy it be ready with your needle and thread.
This is one of the best looking backrests in my opinion . Easy installation which took about 15 minutes to complete with basic tools. I highly recommend this unit. No regrets for me.
Excellent quality, however this is a HUGE bag. I felt it was too big for the 2019 Honda Goldwing OEM trunk rack. Sent it back.
Does not fit on 2019 Goldwing OEM trunk rack. Sent it back.
Too large for a Brake Pedal in this position. You always rest with the tip of your shoes on the pedal, even if you don't want to brake !!!After a few 100 km I removed them.
This is certainly a big improvement over not having a backrest, but I wish there were a way to get it moved back an inch or so, which would make it more comfortable. Still, it's far better than nothing.
The 40 pound front tire and 42 pound rear tire pressures is fine, I guess, if you are riding two up or are a charter member of the gold wing restaurant reviewer‘s Association (GWRRA)I do not consider myself as an “aggressive” rider but do stay to the twisty side. Once I got over 7000 miles on a Wing. BTW we always check tire pressure before EACH ride. With the Bridgestone at 40x42 I got 5300 + before the center was slick with the sides at 2/32 My weight is 215. Tire pressure should have been lower.
