| I love them, but would like to respond to "rcar1", as to the "fit". Be sure to look very close to both the inside of the OEM knob and/or the shaft, that the knob sits on. The reason,...when I put the first on on, it did not "seat" or "fit", correctly. the second one fit perfectly. I went to get the glue, planning to use it to install the one that did not fit right. Then, I tested the faulty one, on the "other shaft". It fit perfectly,..and when I pulled it off, I noticed a small metal "collar", that allow the shaft to seat snuggly, with the new knob. What had happened initially, the "metal collar", had stayed inside the OEM knob, and I did not see it, due to the dark color, matching the OEM knob color. All was perfect, once the metal collar was installed on the knew chrome knob. These are a must, with the chrome face plate, but plan on being "blinded" by the sun's reflection at some point. |
| One of the nicest items I've added so far. When it comes to it's pricing through Wingstuff, there is simply ZERO competition !!! I can not emphisize the pricing issue enough, since I have found this exact cover elsewhere costing more than twice the amount our "VIP MEMBERS" pay. I must admit that I was a little intimadated about the installation process, bases on the feedback of other Wingstuff members, but cannot relay strongly enough that my install went more than smooth. In fact, no more than 30 minutes were involved, AND, when it came to that pesky molding along side the length of the fairing, that other's struggled with,....well, believe it or not, I didn't even have to take it off at all. If you are gentle with it, the molding can be lifted just enough, WITHOUT removal, to slide the bra's "retainer tab" under the molding, and it holds perfectly. I wanted to get the cover on, before taking a great road trip mid June, into Colorado's beautiful Four Corners, Durango, and Telluride mountain region. I'll be updating my photo gallery soon, to show off the new "pretty's" If you can't already tell, I'll give this feature a big thumbs up !!! |
| simple and functional@ the only reason I don't give these a 5-star is that they, unlike others, don't come with grommets. a quick trip to the hardware store fixes that though. |
| The saddlebad accents look great and add a lot of bring however...the truck accents come up about 1/4" higher than the top of the tail lights on my 2008 GL1800 and actually rubbed on the trunk lid. The right side accent chipped a small piece out of the gelcoat on my trunk lid before I noticed the problem. Leaving the accents on any longer would have really done some damage to the trunk lid. The lead mechanic at Wingstuff looked at them and agreed, it is a fittent defect as they were mounted correctly. As always, Wingstuff gave me credit on the trunk accents with no questions asked. I replaced them with the Kuryakyn accent that just runs along the bottom of the tail light. Not an exact match to the saddle bad accents but the combination looks great all the same. Randy |
| Looks good once mounted, but there are no instructions, or template. The Inner cover on the trunk must be removed! The screws are too short to mount the rack and use the rubber washer on both sides of the trunk. I had to leave out the inside rubber washers in order to make the screws fit. Spend the money and get a "Name Brand", or OEM unit. It will save you a lot of headaches! |
| Great Instructions and Templates. It took about 1/2 hour to put on and looks Great! I am very pleased with this item. I also added the Kizan Tail Blaxer to the spoiler, so it also works as a Strobing Brake light. |
| These are the first accessories I put on my new Pearl White 1800-what a difference they make keeping the cold off my hands and the "little lady" in the back says she feels less wind also.If you don't have them,give them a try-you won't be sorrow |
| These Wings are a necessary evil for trike owners. I say that because they do a desirable job, and yet are kind of weird looking hanging out there so far. I was a little uncomfortable mounting a rather large wing with only 2 closely configured mounting points available. Once mine were in place, according to the installation instructions, I noticed that they slid a bit up and down on the crash bar. Instead of using the factory supplied thin rubber bumpers I mounted clear silicon bumpers 1/8" thick to the bodywork and the valve cover. I also placed a pad between the crash bar and the plexi panel where Baker drills a hole for "production only". The result of mounting my 3 pads per side reduced the movement of the panel significantly and eliminated any chance for it to rub against the valve cover or paint work. Now I am going to put some miles on these things and will report back on their long term performance later. |
| Well...I just mounted these Hand Wings the other day and had to do some tweaking to avoid a future paint scratching problem. The rubber pads provided in the kit to protect the paint are not ideal for this purpose since they are too thin. So, I edged the body side of the plexi panel with a 3" strip of black door edge molding and installed a small, round, clear, 1/8" thick, silicon pad on the bodywork. No more worries...ever! I'll post again later about the longer term performance of these Wings as I begin to put more miles on them. |
| It's almost to big for the rack but it will work if you don't put heavy things in it. Might break your lid on the goldwing if you fill it full. The bag is made good for the money. |
| It took me almost 2 hours to install because I had to run A tap down the threads and you need to use A 5/16" drill bit. It's A good rack for the money just takes time to install it right. |
| I thought this shield would be better for protection, but it is not. It should have a little flip at the top to help with the wind. I am not happy at all with this shield as it does not have anymore wind protection than stock. I would not reccomend this shield. |
