So far, So Good
| So I thought I'd wait till I put some miles on these new Road W GT tires before I reviewed them. I mounted them the end of June on my '14 GL and have put about 7500 miles on them. 4000 of that was pulling a 500lb Roll-A-Home from Idaho to Arkansas. (with about 80lbs on the tongue) The rear new had 10/32nds of tread and the front had 7/32nds. They seem to handle the curves real well. But if you've got on a grooved freeway, they didn't like that very well at all. The bike would move around somewhat, a lot like the turbulence you experience behind a semi. So ya, even worse if its grooved and your behind said semi. After 7500 miles I still have 4-5/32nds tread (depending on where you measure) on the rear and about 5/32nds on the front. But like I said most of that is pulling a trailer. So at that rate I should get 18,000 out of the front and maybe 12,000 out of the rear if I don't pull the caboose on any more long trips. That is wearing them down to 2/32nds. Before this I rode to Pennsylvania back in June on a set of new BRIDGESTONE'S, 9,000 miles total, and got home with cords showing on the rear (whew...) and about 2/32nds remaining on the front. So I'm gonna say I'm going to get about 25% better tread life on the rear and maybe 40-50% better on the front. As I recall Michelin claimed 25% better life out of this tire. Ya, they are a little more money for a set and you don't get the rebate card, like from Bridgestone. But so far I'm happy. Oh ya, and they did feel pretty sure footed in the rain. So you choose... |

2016 GoldWing New Tires
| Just bought these tires almost three weeks ago and had them put on. Went on two poker runs putting about 500 miles on these tires. So far I love them. They corner nice and have a smooth ride to them. I switched over from the Bridgestone tires to the Michelin tires because I used to only run them on my road glide and had good luck with them. My tire guy said these are hard to get he's been waiting for a few months to get them in his shop. Guess I was lucky Wing stuff had them in stock and at a great price. Can't wait to see how many miles I get with them. |
