Rick takes a quick trip to Julian, California where he soaks in the small mountain town charm, local roads and famous apple pie. This is Rick's Rides.
Join WingStuff owner, Rick Arnoldo, as he rides some of the best roads that our country has to offer in our series, Rick's Rides. Some renowned and others a bit more obscure, they will be roads that remove you from the hectic pace of city life and move you on an adventure! In each episode, Rick will reflect on the ride and give the viewer an up close look at what the road has to offer.
Had the pleasure of riding into Julian from Palm Springs and then onto L.A. A magnificent town and Rick's right, the best apple pie! Might have to do a CEO Ride there...
Around 1984 I Knew a gal that lived in San Diego on Sunset Cliffs Blvd.and stayed with her for a week. Anyway, She gave my friend and I directions to Julian. We did not have a MC at the time but the upper desert I believe it's called was beautiful. The town of Julian brought us back in time. Later we drove up to Ramona and I believe that little town was/is German heritage. Going forward in time to 1986 when I met my wife Ramona and married her in 1991. Julian and Ramona are special to me and one day I would love to bring my wife Ramona to Julien and Ramona on our Goldwing. Still have my Harley but that Gold Wing is "SMOOTH".
I used to love going up there 15+ years ago but since then it has got much more commercial and more tourist trappy I certainly miss the days before it became such a popular destination and the original shops were forced out.

Couple times every year
I ride to Julian couple times per year. Love the Apple Berry pie with crumb top… yum! The hills around Julian are fun to explore.
