I have changed the oil on my GL1800 twice and the Honda dealer has change it once so far. My engine runs very clean, makes lots of power and doesn't leak or burn any oil. I have changed the oil with this brand every 3,000 miles since I bought it used. I didn't know the history of the bike when I bought is so I have changed it more often. I'll probably to to 5,000 miles as time goes on instead of the recommended 8,000 in the owners manual. Better price than at the dealership also. My son uses Amsoil in his ZX14 drag bike but I'll have to see if it is OK for the wing. I use the oil filters listed on the GL1800 section of WingStuff also. Great write ups in the review section on those also.

Used this 10/40 oil and Honda filter. Seems to run smoother (might be my imagination) and shifts real nice. Oil and filter change needs 3.9 quarts.

Ran 4k on this HP4, improved the shift, and didn't noitce the loud clunk when shifting in hot ambient temps. Just bought a case of it for my next 3 oil changes

I like this oil. It performs well, and if changed every 4,000 miles it should have little degradation in that time. Personally I prefer full-synthetic because it maintains lubricating properties and viscosity better than mineral oils. The advantage of this mix is the higher hot-viscosity, but it's those viscosity additives that leave oil first and you're left with 10W30 after a several thousand miles. So if you change according to the manual schedule, then I suggest full synthetic. That's what I'm going back to.
