GL1800 Passenger Adjustable Footpegs

Well yes the directions were a bit short but I figured a lot of what we purchase on these type sites lack good instruction. I double stacked the wavy washers and put the plastic on the cycle side of the peg arm adapter. All is tight and the wife is HAPPY!! The only other thing I could think of would be to add a bit of cushion to the arm so that when it is folded you don't have metal/metal contact.

Very easy to install took 15 minutes. High quality chrome looks great, Peg matches my Kuryakyn grips and highway pegs. Wife likes being able to change foot positions while riding. She says when her feet are on pegs it lets a little air blow under her legs so her butt doesn't get as sweaty when its hot. Also because the bar is next to the bike instead of on the outside of the board these pegs wont trap the passengers foot on the floorboard if the bike falls over like the Kuryakyn transformer boards will.

I had some fixed passenger foot pegs on my previous GL1500, so when I bought a GL1800 my wife wanted something similar. I also wanted to keep the stock passenger boards. My wife is only 5 ft 2, so I had to put these on with the 2 in. risor plates, which worked great. I can still remove the side covers without any problem. I did have to play around a little with the different washers a little to figure out how they best worked. I put a small piece of the loop side of hook and loop fastner tape on the back spacer where the bar rests when it is in the down position, just to make sure it wouldn't rattle, and to keep it from wearing the chrome off.

I just installed these today. The instructions do not mention the nylon washers but another poster here remarked where he put his. I came to the same conclusion. Nothing else made sense. The other problem I came across is that even with the wave washers installed (they gave me 4 but only showed two on the directions) there wasn't enough tension to hold the arms. I didn't like the fact that they give and move freely front to back. My solution to this which really tightened them up where you have to deliberately move them from the down to the up position was to install a washer against the little t-shaped assembly that goes on the footpeg bolt. I then put the wave washer on after that, then the arm itself and finally the nylon washer. It now works with precision, no slop, and it won't rattle and bounce up and down if your passenger doesn't have their foot on it.

NOTE: the picture is not correct here at wingstuff with regard to the finish. The set I received was a full on CHROME not satin as shown to match the factory floorboards.

I gave it 3 stars because of the shortcoming in the design and the fact that the directions don't say anything about how to position the pegs (what side of the arms they go), what to do with the nylon washers. Time will tell how well these hold up.

After some head scratching the installation went smoothly. They should come with something to put between the footpeg arm and the u-bar. I'll have to look around the garage for something. I can't leave it metal on metal.
