Over the road rider
| No question this is the best back rest by far that i have ever own. Ok it's a little pricey but as compared to beaning a comfortable back rest there's no other that can beat this one. Ease to install in about fifteen minutes and you are good to go. I have mine adjusted to fit just above the lower back, and that work's for me just fine. |

questionabe product and design
| I have purchased one of these and installed it without any trouble after replacing the original seat bolts with 80mm stainless steel ones so as not to strip the puny threads in the aluminum frame with the now dangerously too short OEM screws.The Velcro pouch attachment backing glue on the backrest failed after a short time and just came apart. Wingstuff sent me a complete new set at no charge. The Velcro on it also came undone after about a year, together with the pouch which just disappeared during a trip.. A call to Kuryakin and lengthy discussion with Greg revealed that they would NOT stand behind the product since I bought the first one almost 2 years ago. regardless of the fact that Wingstuff had replaced it once during that time. Turns out this is a cheaply made Chinese product which Kuryakin buys lots of and spare parts are not available.At the current price of almost $400.00 the only alternative would be to buy a third one. At that cost I can buy a whole new heated seat including a back rest from multiple US manufacturers. Ridiculous!!So buyer beware. |

Poo design
| Well the backrest its self very comfortable the reason I'm giving 3 stars because the push button on side to adjust I losted while I traveled,now I don't know if I can buy the little part or whole backrest. |

poor design
| I ordered mine about 1.5 years ago. In about 6 months the backrest broke off. Wingstuff people took care of it and sent me a new one. (thank you). And the new one is just a piece of junk as well. One side of sliding assembly is refusing to move at all. I have taken it a part 3 times and lubed the hell out of it. It would work for a couple of weeks and then starts again. It turned rusty in couple of places and the glue that holds Velcro to the backrest is coming off. |

Back Rest - 3 out 5 rating
| I purchased this Item to install on my new 2014 GL1800. I do quite long distance riding and the need for a back rest is a MUST. I had one in my previous GL1800 but from another manufacturer, which to install you need to modify the OEM seat. I didn't want to go through that task again so I purchased the one from Kuryakin. There are three CONs that I don't particularly liked with this item. One is that the backrest has like a pouch that is retained by adhesive backing. The pouch seemed to be falling as the adhesive melts or softens in hot days. Living in Florida this is an issue. Second all the braket screws that holds the backrest to the bracket has exhibited a brown discoloration, like rust. This is visible as it has a high contrast to Chrome. Finally, the bracket arms holding the backrest are too wide or big that is uncomfortable to the passenger; specially if it is a female. All in all, I gave this item a 3 out of 5 for functionality. It does what I bought it for; to support my back. I would rated lower for appearance and quality. |
