Essential for long trips
Used this on a 5200 mile trip out west in the summer. I won’t go on a long trip without it now. No negatives. |

Very neat system but honestly if you're thinking of the rack system you might as well install the removal trailer hitch. You can carry more weight, and pull a trailer so it's the best of both worlds |

Works great- easy install
Since I live in Wisconsin near the manufacturer, I just popped over and picked up one of these along with with their small rack. Very well designed. Fit perfectly on my 2002 Goldwing. Everything seems very sturdy. I chose to go with this for extra storage because my trunk top rack had eventually cracked. The plastic bosses on the underside of the trunk lid are a weak point in the system. So, I've got this little trail behind rack now for longer trips. With a relatively flat bag on the rack you can still see my license and lights. Highly recommend! |

Mike
Just installed this product on my 2016 Goldwing. Rivco really needs to update the installation instructions. The Gen 2 bikes have been around since 2012 and the only instructions available are for the Gen 1 bikes, not made since 2010. You can't install this product on the Gen 2 bike without removing the tail lite. It's difficult to do but it needs to be in the instructions. |

2013 F6 B Cooler Hitch
The hitch is well made and came with all the necessary hardware for mounting. The mounting required some modifications to the hitch and fender for a proper fit. The clamp arms had to be widened (bent) by a half inch for proper clearance and , as previously mentioned in a review, the fender required about an inch of plastic cut to clear the arms. No metal grinding was necessary if you widened the arms. Remove the tail light assembly for easy install. Looking forward to using it on a trip to Alaska this summer. Would have given 5 stars if I didn't have to trim the fender! |

Cooler Rack System
Delivery to Ontario Canada took 12 days, pretty good! Not so good was the duty required by Fed Ex, making purchases from Canada ultimately very expensive! Initial inspection of the items they look well made and the u pipe has a good thickness to it. They have also included a bolt to tighten to prevent rattle. I choose this system over the Pakit Rak for the higher support weight. Overall looks like a well designed system. Will be installing soon. |

Update on Cooler Rack System
We just returned from a 1600 mile trip and am entirely happy with this Rivco Cooler rack system. During motel stays, we removed the cooler rack from the "J-bar" and carried the rack and storage container in with us. Easy mounts on and off and does not move once in place. The J-bar stayed in the receiver the whole trip and was removed once back at home. Except for the slight installation modifications I had to make as previously mentioned, this is a great product. |

Different than current picture
I just received this rack system to install on my 05 and I am having to make some modifications to the hitch. The instructions call for on years 06 and later to cut a bit of a tab on the backside of the fender, which I had to do on my 05. No bid deal. But following those instructions, the fender still did not fit back on and was hitting part of the hitch. I had to grind off about 1/4 of steel from the upward part of the bracket by the u-bolts. I see that this hitch is back ordered now and the current picture looks different than what I received. Is this the reason? I don't know. Other than a little modifying, the hitch and 11 X 17 cooler rack that I also bought is made well and is a great design. Time will tell. I just wish it was a "plug and play". |

Excellent product
I purchased this system (also purchased the cooler rack, luggage bag, and locks). Installation on my Gen 2 required a couple more steps but there is a review by paysnoattn under product reviews where he describes in detail the additional steps making installation a breeze (thanks paysnoattn!) In the past I have pulled a trailer but don't enjoy the hassles that come with it (parking, tolls etc.) so I decided to give this a try. My wife and I can fit all of our clothing and toiletries in the large bag that mounts to the rack leaving our side cases for heated gear, rain suits etc.), When running around town I simply remove the hitch and rack (2 minutes). I'm sold on this system and can't imagine not having it for trips. Unless you pull a camping trailer, you can pretty much eliminate the need for a cargo trailer with this system. |

Works like a charm
Went right on as instructions called for. Made a trip to Alabama and it held up and was just the right amount of room for my Navigator a.k.a. wife. Sturdy build. |

Needs better instructions
On the "Generation 2" GL1800 (2012-UP) The easiest way to get the U bolts in is to remove the turn signal/ tail light housing by accessing 4 fasteners on the back wall inside the side compartments. Once that is taken off, you can easily manipulate the U bolts around the frame tube and secure them. You may have to re-dress the threads on the U-bolts so they'll accept the nuts without cross-threading. They're cut pretty sloppily and you'll need a file or grinder to clean them up. Try fitting the nuts before installing the U-bolts! You'll also need to trim a inch or so off either side of the back side of the center panel to allow clearance for the flat plates on the mount. Fit the panel and look underneath to see how much you'll need to remove to get the panel to mount flush. The picture included in the directions only show a "Generation 1" configuration. Unless you plan on keeping the mount tube in place all the time, you'll want to find a plastic cap or cover the opening with tape to prevent dirt from corroding the inside of the mount tube. You might also want to remove the tension bolt located above the hitch pin and re-install it using plumbers Teflon tape wrapped around the threads to keep the bolt from vibrating out when not tightened down. Remember that all this stuff is INSIDE the rear tire well and will be exposed to everything your rear tire rolls thru. I recommend using a loc-tite thread locker product on all fasteners also. Instillation wasn't bad, but be prepared to take your time because the instillation is tedious and easily frustrating. |

installing on a 2013 goldwing
Installation on a 2013 was pretty easy other than getting the upper u-bolts installed. Finally wrapped a piece of wire around u-bolt and tubular frame and was able to connect the hitch frame. Have used it a couple of times and works great. Remember any package on the rack that attaches to this hitch will cover the license plate. I haven't had any trouble yet, but I did drill 2 license plate holes on my rack, just in case I get stopped and then I can easily transfer the license plate to the rack. Great product, and would recommend it for that extra storage. |
