I installed my center stand about 4 months ago and wanted to hold off writing my review until I had a little bit of time using it. I’ll start off with some installation tips that might save you some frustration. I would recommend breaking your bolts while still on the original center stand, they are pretty tight. Also the right side bolt is reverse threaded. I didn’t have a tool for the spring so I stuff quarters (about $3 worth) into the spring while it was extended. This helps out so much when reinstalling the new stand, all I had to do was get a pair of needle nose pliers to stretch it the last ¼ inch. I posted some pictures on gl1800riders.com that may help as well. Alright now for the review, I think this an awesome upgrade. Mine does have a little bit of a wobble at times but isn’t unstable in the least bit, you just have to understand it isn’t exactly like the old stand. It takes little to no effort to put this up by foot. Putting it up using reverse took me a few times to get the hang of especially when 2 up but can do it with great ease now. My wife loves that she can stay on the bike during gas stops and the stability when she is getting on and off of the bike. I like that even with back issues this enables me to still use the center stand. The only inconvenience as others have stated is when you are trying to air up the tires if you don’t use the board to raise it up, it takes a few times of rolling it back and forth to find the air valve. |

Very pleased with how easy it is to get the bike up on the center stand. With the stock stand, I had to roll the bike backwards, and use the bike's momentum to help raise it. Don't have to mess with any of that with this center stand. Definitely loosen the bolts while the bike is on the center stand. I tried to do it all on the side stand, and could not get enough leverage to do the job. Once the bike was on the center stand, a breaker bar and a metrinch socket for the 14 mm bolt did the trick. Used a piece of PVC pipe over the allen wrench as a cheater bar. As the instructions note, the 14 mm bolt is threaded backwards of most bolts. Chris Shaker |

I just installed my C.R.S. and because it was my second, I know all the advantages and the few disadvantages. Some reviewers thought it was somewhat more unstable than the original, but maybe there has been a modification since I found it to be very stable. All other issues concerning the installation have been previously addressed and were helpful in the installation process. |

Aside from a bit of a struggle undoing the left side Allen head bolt (that 3' pipe came in handy),the installation was very easy. I found the reverse ride on a little shaky the first time due to the uncertain feel of the stand under my foot but the bike went right up and settled onto the stand beautifully. After a few uses, it becomes very comfortable. As far as stability, used in the areas one would normally use a center stand, fueling stations or hard parking areas, I see no problem. And I almost always use the side stand on loose material or slopes of any kind. Great addition! |

I just finished the project and I have a lot to share. First off the C.R.S. owner is very nice and called me back on a Saturday afternoon! Next, Wingstuff was also helpful with this and offered to pay return shipping if I wanted to send it back, (they didn't do this with my last item that was unsatisfactory!). Removing the stock hardware was not a problem. The correct tools really help. If you have to remove hardware 1/4 turn at a time, or you round off the end, you have the WRONG tool! Placing coins (nickels or quarters between the springs was a brilliant idea! Thank you to the person who shared that. After installing the C.R.S. you will notice and additional 1/6 of an inch in lateral play (side to side) this is NORMAL. When the stand is in the up position it comes very close, or even touches the anterior part of the exhaust cover. The stock arm fit nicely in the center of this indentation. The instructions say to move the shroud. What the heck?? Well, the owner said that all you really have to do is slightly bend it with your thumbs so the arm fits nicely without touching. I was concerned about this but it does bend very easy and it was a breeze to mould it away from the arm without causing any cosmetic issues. Now for the problem.....When this stand is used you can no longer rotate your rear tire. What if you get a flat and want to plug the tire, put in some air, clean the rim, etc.? Someone suggested a board under the new stand, but the differences in thickness makes a huge difference in operation. I'm 5'9" tall and weigh 160 pounds dripping wet. I don't have the weight to overpower this beast. My solution was to buy a piece of solid oak 5" X 18" X 3/4". The board alone under the stand would not let the tire spin and any additional boards were either too difficult to get the bike on/off, or would just slide on the floor when attempting to set the bike on it. So I purchased two pieces of THICK rubber floor matting and epoxy glued it to BOTH sides. Now it doesn't slide and the rear wheel clears the ground and spins. This is a sensitive thickness. Too thick, and the bike won't stand, too thin and the tire won't spin. I chose this size of board because it fits on the floor of the right rear side compartment. The instructions suggest two boards 1" thick but one long/wide board covered with rubber is easier to use and does not slip out from under the stand. I put the bike on/off the board while standing on the left side of the bike just like when using the stock stand. I cannot rock it or ride it off the board while siting on the seat, so I grab the rear handle and the bars and just shove it off the board while standing on the left side. This won't be used often, but when needed, it will allow the wheel to spin or be removed as it did before the new C.R.S.! And yes, my skinny frame can do this with NO PROBLEM! Now I have solved all my center stand issues. Don't forget to leave the bike in reverse or first when on this C.R.S. to prevent a roll off! |

I don't have a problem with any particular model of ride-off center stands, but I installed one last year on my '08 and was fairly happy with it for a while. It did decrease stability because it doesn't lift the bike as high off the ground, but the one thing that made me remove it and put the stock center stand back on was when I decided to change my rear tire to the taller 70-inch option... The ride-off center stand no longer touched the ground with the taller rear tire installed. The taller rear tire improved my mileage and will last about 16% longer just because there is more tire there - and it cost the same price. That is a much greater benefits to having a ride-off center stand. Besides, the stock center stand now works easier with the taller rear tire installed. |

The benfits of the ride off stand far exceeds any add-on item you may be considering. Buy it first before chrome and other accessories. The GW was so easy to manually lift onto the center stand that the first time I slid the bike backwards about 6 inches using the same effort with the factory stand. I only use reverse with a rider and a trailer. Furthermore, you will appreciate mounting the bike, starting the engine, and riding off in 1st gear. WOW! Honda should make the ride-off-stand standard equipment. |

One of the best upgrades to my bike so far. Pretty easy to install and make using the center stand much much easier. I do notice that the bike is not quite as stable as with the OEM stand, but haven't had any problems. Worth every penny for me. |

Wow...After about 2 hours to install on my 2008, this is definitely worth the cost. The Wing hops up on the center stand using reverse and with ease. You can even manually use the center stand and the effort to lift the bike is 90% less than the OEM center stand. To dismount off of the Ride-Off, simply engage 1st gear and drive off. No longer does one have to grunt and grown to lift the Wing onto the OEM stand. This Ride-Off was a great addition to my favorite accessories, why did I wait so long to get it. Issues: Removing the old OEM center stand is a chore that I had not planned. The OEM center stand is held in place with blue loctite on both a allen bolt and a 14mm regular hex bolt. The allen bolt did not fit the OEM allen key provided by Honda but I had one that fit it. Both bolts take 500 1/4 turns to remove it because of the tight clearance. The bolts need to be pried off with strong force and ample liquid penetrate. The spring can be easily removed by sticking nickel coins between the expanded coils to make re-installation a breeze. This should have been my 1st purchase. |

Wow, very cool addition to my 2010 GL1800! Was easy to use in reverse the first time. Sooo much easier to put the bike on center stand now. Only thing I don't understand is why the arm doesn't fit into the chrome muffler indention like the stock one did. They even mention this fact in the instructions......so why couldn't they just design it to fit in there? Not that big of a deal though. Very happy with it and bike seems quite stable when on the stand. |
