I was out and about riding, collecting some stops for The Motorcycle Grand Tour of Texas, when I blew out my fork seals. I decided to go OEM with this kit, since it comes with other parts that should also be replaced. This was my first time rebuilding forks, so it took some time to get it done, but all the parts fit like clockwork, and appear to be of good quality. It turns out that it was a good thing that the seal blew, since after draining the old oil out; I realized how old the old fluid was. It needed to be replaced regardless of the seals. If you are a DIY’R; get this kit and get it done. |
I've got a slow leak in my read tire so I purchased this to replace the slime one I had previously that stopped working. After three uses the adapter that screws onto the valve stem stopped screwing on all the way. It no longer screws on enough to fill the tire, just enough to let more air out. If I could give it less than 1 star I would. |
Very wide. A tip for people putting it on. If you set it all the way back and the set screw doesn’t tighten, cheat it forward about an 1/8th of an inch and the screw should grab. Didn’t quite fit properly on mine but worked once I cheated it forward, it worked. Stays tight and works well! |
Instructions were perfect with great illustration. Wish other companies would take note. Very simple install. One screw and attaching the cup, very easy. Feel like it’s a bit overpriced for the material. Feels like 35 bucks but we shall see how long it lasts. Came with everything needed and holds all of my large cups so overall it’s a thumbs up! |
I’m really scratching my head on these other reviews. Maybe Show Chrome used to have a different design. This is NOT a quick detach backrest. The instructions and design were so far off what I ordered that I was convinced I had been shipped the wrong item but I wasn’t. Instructions show a flat bar to detach from the seat. That’s not the case. The bar for the backrest is curved and does NOT fit through the gap in the seat so it is impossible to install by the directions. Had to fit a modified Allen key (should be included) into the slot to tighten it. It is a permanent fixed backrest. In order to remove it, you’d have to remove the seat (which on the 2024 Goldwing tour is not “quick”) and manage to squeeze the modified Allen key into a slot and painfully remove it. The fasteners were poor quality, cheap flimsy T nuts. I am strongly considering returning this item as it doesn’t match the 21 plus seat like it says, nor is it quick detach like the description. The instructions are awful and wrong, with missing steps. Also for the money I expected higher quality. I’ve gotten better fitment and quality off of Amazon or EBay. Once I finally got it installed properly and tested it out, it wasn’t great. Wouldn’t stay in place and isn’t adjustable enough. Needs more height. Cushion is soft and well padded but still lacked support. Would give zero stars if I could. |
If you like chrome add-ons, this is quick easy addition. Make sure you clean area and pre fit before peeling the adhesive. Chrome looks nice. Took mine off due to mounting of different highway pegs, but loved them while they were on. |
High quality add on that is flexible for multiple size drinks. Highly suggest the larger (BigAss) size. Can be used in multiple applications, so read description to match your application. We added to our DCT trike with the passenger armrest kit. Great gift for that passenger or any rider. |
Perfect fit either side of the GoldStrike Passenger Armrest kit. Suggest adding the larger BigAss Drink holder for the extra flexibility for variety of tumbler/drink sizes. Rotates on it own weight when raising upper trunk so drink does not spill. Also easy to turn and pull to remove to safely store when away from bike. Makes that perfect gift for the passenger for added ride comfort. |
This is one of my top choices to add. Go with the larger size (BigAss). Holds smaller sizes but important to have larger size for enough fluids for those summer rides. Easy install and Mounted on the right side of my DCT Trike. Love the flex adjustment so it does not hit anything when turning handlebars. Another great product from GoldStrike. |
I agree with comments from other reviews about making it easier to align when reinstalling the seat. I expected to be adding many accessories and having to remove the seat multiple times. This helps. Just enough taper to get threads started. No more frustration getting seat bolt aligned properly at end of an accessory install when you are ready to finish up for a test ride. |
This is a good addition when looking for a touch more storage. Here's the but.b what you put in there must be light weight. But it won't allow you to fit a full-sized helmet in your trunk either. |
Also posted a similar review of this product on the goldstrike site. '21 GW Tour DCT, installed pretty much as the instructions and installation video directed, with a couple of caveats: 1. The finger-accessible plastic tabs holding the stock left and right tail light connectors in place are NOT finger-accessible on this model GW. They're small and barely reachable with a screwdriver, after trying to get them loose for 30 minutes I gave up and disconnected the connectors in-place. Made the install a little more difficult, but not much. 2. The video says to tuck the stock connectors into the space toward the back of the bike; on this particular model there are several cables zip-tied together blocking access. I had to clip the zip-ties and do some cable rearranging before I could poke the stock connector back there. Overall I'm satisfied with the product, everything clipped together easy-peasy it works fine; I deducted one star because the installation wasn't a cakewalk like the video suggested. |
