Had no trouble fitting this product and it was easy to just plug into the existing wiring harness. Most Australian GL1800's only have the saddlebag lights working to conform with Australian Design Rules. My Wing has had a different wiring loom installed to allow the trunk lights to work as well as the spoiler LED's. Although the only colour matched plug was the 3 pin red one it was easy to find which of the other plugs matched and so all the lights work perfectly. We use a flat 7 pin plug wired for 5 wires. Turn, stop and running lights. The aux. and electric brakes are not used |
This cover fits my GL1800 perfectly. The only improvement I would like to see is reinforcing patches to stop the radio and CB aerials from chafing through. I overcome this by placing a rag over the bent over aerial base. I am very pleased with the quality. |
My previous review still stands with respect to matching the color with the 2007 blue but, now that I have had them painted, you can't tell that they are not part of the fairing. I believe that the color they come in matches the 2005 model blue. Now they don't look like an add on. |
Now that I have them painted to match the bike, they look great. You can't even tell that they are not part of the fairing. If you plan on adding the Kuryakyn grips with the helmet locks on the ends, the helmet will hit these when hung from the locks. |
Nice grips. Allows an easier throttle response now that you have a larger diameter to turn. Heat transfers pretty well. Was not sure if it would, but it does. Start bike and leave on high for few minutes before you head out. "Hold the heat in" once you ride. |
Great Looks...However, the install was much more than I bargained for. The brake calipers have to come off, the brake mounting bolts replaced. Over all...A lot of work for such a simple item. Looks are worth it in the end. |
Just installed, looks great and were easy to install, very good directions and easy to understand, a very nice compliment to our Goldwing, also a nice chrome look, very happy with them, my wife loves them. Mike |
This is a must have! Went to Belgium just after I've bought the bike. It's 3200 km (2000 miles) back and forth. I almost went to a chiropractor when I got back. After I mounted the Utopia Backrest I've had no problems what so ever. I went on a trip to the Alps and to Italy (6500 km, 4050 miles) without any problems with my back. |
I loved this product until bulb burned out. Have thought about changing the lamp holder and go to a higher output bulb as i have had trouble finding a replacement bulb and have lighted my yellow side lights using an automotive lamp holder and bulbs. |
I replaced my original windshield with the clear w/vent style and am very happy. Less wind buffeting and a little less noise for both rider and passenger. I'm 6'4" and had a problem with the original windshield's upper edge being right in the middle of my line of sight. This thing is tall, but I don't have any problems with bumping into it when mounting or dismounting. It probably took me about a week to get used to looking through the shield instead of over it. The vent comes included in the price, but you'll have to install it yourself. Good product, fairly easy install, and a great deal for the price. |
I had this installed with the Kisan brake modulator. The one I received had a white lens but, the LEDs were red once they lit up. Just about the right height for those approaching from the rear to see in cars. Good safety item. |
I agree with Kevin, look great on the bike - better than the picture but be sure and grind off the ends that would otherwise dig into the plastic. If you are like me you like to preserve the ability to remove accessories and have the bike original. Another worthwhile trick is to replace the rear screw that holds the pocket in before removing the screws which will hold the bracket on as this will keep everything lined up especially on the left hand side if you have a CB radio fitted. |
