The quaility of the cover looks good. But my wife said even before I got it out of the carrying bag, there is no way you are ever going to get that cover back in that bag, of course she is right, there is no way to get it back in the bag. She will just have to make me a larger bag. No big deal. It takes two people to put it on the trike, can be done alone if you struggle with it, it is big.
Some reviewers have had difficulty in using the velcro mounting strap that is supplied. There are no instructions provided, and I only found the solution by trying at a few positions. The strap can be inserted underneath the plastic panel on my 2009 model, but forward of the ignition key, which does not seem the right location. Then the strap needs to be drawn back and fastened together to the rear of the ignition key. The contour of the plastic panel will keep it in the right position. This puts the velcro of the strap in the right position to mate with the velcro on the front of the map holder, and the back of the holder has two small tabs which are held by the gas cap door when it is lowered and locked in the closed position.
Well, since my last post in May 2010 I just passed 10K on the Avons. I'm still very happy with them. Lots of tread left and still stick like glue. Haven't had any cupping or delamination issues at all as stated by others. I really believe the reason is the dynamic balancers I put on when these were new. So they've paid for themselves. A little noisy in the corners now but a small price to pay for the work I'm putting these through.
They look great and are an easy installation, however they are more flimsy than the original moldings, and one must take care to not break them when extracting them from the shrink-wrap.

Put it on today in the heated garage - ever easy install. Made sure to line it up so I could get the center cover out - put the new chrome center cover on in good shape. Really looks great! |
Installed this today. Not a bad install - just follow the advise you find from others here and you will be OK.
Install was easy enough... couldn't get the snap on buttons to make the "clicking" noise they spoke of in the directions - and I pushed them on as hard as I could.
Simple install - looking for the first chance to get out and try them!

I'm giving 5 because for me, it wasn't too hard to install and, the looks and quality of it are about as good as one can get. I had to tweak it just a tad here and there to make it fit but, with the help of the wife, it seamed to be OK. I was installing some fog lights at the same time so, I was having fitment issues with multiple wires, hoses etc. at the same time. But, some minor pushing, tucking and squeezing here and there, it all came together. My only issue at this point, the fog lights are misaligned just a tad so, some tweaking is in order to compensate for that. Nice looking addition to the front of the bike. I might have to get the timing cover now. Scott |
I JUST PUT THESE ON. THESE ARE CHEAPLY MADE, DIFFIDULT TO UN-PACKAGE, EASILY BROKEN (TABS) AND MINE CAME WITH NO INSTRUCTIONS BUT THEY LOOK GREAT. SOMEONE SAID TO START AT THE BOTTOM AND WORK YOUR WAY UP (REMOVAL). TO THE CONTRARY MY MAINTENANCE MANUAL SAYS TO START AT THE TOP AND WORK YOUR WAY DOWN; AGAIN I'M TALKING REMOVAL. I BELIEVE STARTING AT THE BOTTOM FOR REMOVAL AND THE TOP FOR INSTALLATION REALLY MAKES MORE SENSE. WOULD I BUY THEM AGAIN? PERHAPS, BECAUSE THEY DO LOOK GOOD BUT THEY CERTAINLY COULD BE A BETTER PRODUCT.
Quick and easy install about 10 minutes per side. They Look great. so far only used them in the closed position and they work great keeping a lot of air off the upper body and hands. Looking forward to warm weather so I can try them in the open position to see how much air they move in to help beat the heat.
Installed these this weekend, real easy to install. Looks good, works great. Now I need to get the lower wing set.
