Midrider Luxury Seat Set for GL1800
ITEM CODE: PG29207

I purchased the Midrider, including rider & passenger backrests with white ostrich accents. It really is a great accent on the metallic black '07. The comfort level of this seat is so far superior to the OEM seat that you can't even compare the two. The Ultimate rider backrest, however, is another story. I returned the pad, kept the hardware and used it on my Utopia. Works very well, but the appearance suffers slightly. I also must say that customer support from Ultimate has been first rate. There was an issue with the seat cover not adhering to the foam and they replaced the foam and fixed the problem within 10 days of calling them. Great seat - Better service.

Haven't used this all day long or in the summer heat yet, but really like it so far. I have ridden 3 hours on it. I can feel air underneath my butt, which is good and should be a great thing in the summer.

I have tried some others and these are the ticket. They brake better then all the others I tried. I cant speak for longevity I replace brakes every 15k with the tires and they still have meat left.

Immediate handling upgrade. GW felt more responsive and stable in tight turns. However, my wobble still there. My wobble started when I changed tires. I only have 3ths miles on Dunlop Elites and I think most of wobble coming from rear tire cupping. Going to change to Bridgestones.

I use to use ONLY these on my old bike, Honda Shadow VT750. Now that bike is gone and in its place I have a NEW GL1800 Gold Wing. As of yet I have not had Bridge Stones on it....YET! I am waiting for the tires on it right now to wear out, which should be soon enough as I have few serious trips planed that will cover near 12,000 Km in about a month of riding. As for the Bridge Stones I loved them on my old Shadow and when my wing needs a set of tires I will give them a try on it. Right now I have the Metz 880's on it, and these to are very good and I am most happy with them as well.

Design seems to be strong. Mounts to the frame at 4 points compared to some others that mounts primarily to the saddlebag sub frame. Also attaches to the saddlebag sub frame with u-bolts to help hold it in position when the center piece holding the receiver is removed to allow for easier removal of the rear wheel.

Install took about 3 hours and can probably be done in less time if Bushtec used metric fasteners, removing the need for a trip to the local hardware store to get imperial spanners. This is a metric bike so I cannot understand why some Goldwing accessories are still made according to imperial standards.

I lowered the right-side muffler which made it easy enough to fit the bolt and nut and I was even able to get the torque wrench in to properly torque the nut.

I agree with all others about better instructions needed. I too used the online photos and instructions published by Stephen (thanks for sharing!).

I rerouted the harnesses on both sides under the seat where the brackets are fitted to the saddlebag frame bolts. This made it very easy to fit and eliminated the risk if it being pinched, possibly causing a short circuit.

Overall I am very happy with the final result as far as strength and fitment is concerned. We have just returned from a trip pulling the trailer with about 140 kg cargo for 1,500 KM and I did not even know it was there. After arriving back home I checked the hitch and it was still solid. I will post again after I’ve done some more serious miles.

I only have one disappointing issue – the chrome receiver looks great but the chrome underneath is pitted and rough and the inside if the shaft is not fully chromed and already showing signs of rust. It is not visible when fitted but for the price you pay for this hitch, I was expecting a better quality chrome finish.

4 Stars only because of the instructions and disappointing chrome but I would buy it again and would still recommend this to anybody.
