I love the way this makes me F6B look! It is a must have but let me tell you, it won't last long. I am on my third one in three years. I get about a year out of them and then one side will quit illuminating. VERY frustrating! Would be 5 stars all day for the cool factor. Sadly the quality is lacking on it.
Have these on my F6B and absolutely love them! Installation was straight forward and the cool factor is spot on! You better get em!
Followed exact install instructions, the hand wing rubs against the bottom of the mirror assy. Will return and go with older style - which I had previously installed on 3 other GL1800's with no problem. Wasted a lot of my time.
This back rest is not made to be leaned on with any weight. I am 6 ft and 295. If I lean back on it too much I have bent the bars back. I kept it off of the bike most of the time that I had. It can not support being used a back rest. When you lean it forward it catches the corners of the drivers seat make it a bit of a pain to put back in place. I am not fond of cutting a hole in the seat so I am going to purchase the Show Chrome backrest. I had that one on my 1500 and could lean on it without issues. If it doesn't stay in place I am going to insert the dowels like another reviewer suggested.

I had this one on my 94 1500. I loved it. I bought the Kuryakyn backrest for my 1800 and hate it. It can not support weight if I lean back on it. I am considering purchasing this one. i am 6 feet as well so I will be installing all the way back. My wife id not have a problem sitting on the 1500 with the show chrome model. If I need to I will insert the dowels as a reviewer suggested and could get some foam piping insulation if the exposed metal starts to hurt my riders legs. |
I thought I would try saving a few dollars over the Honda OEM. I'm sorry to say that this wasn't worth the savings. The powder coating is subpar, the directions were incomplete, and the hardware is mismatched. The directions call for cutting out a template, which wasn't included. So I had to mark the holes for drilling manually. The next problem was the 9/16" spade bit which was included. The bit is perfectly acceptable, however the spacers are LARGER than 9/16", thereby rendering the holes too small. I had to enlarge them with a dremel and sanding drum. Once I got everything mounted, it now feels very secure, but the installation pains and the subpar build quality and directions leave a sour taste in my mouth. Would not recommend.

Have now gone through two sets of these. LED keeps burning out and the glass lens cracks due to heat. I fabricated high temp plastic lenses and they worked great, but the LED’s kept burnin* out. The last set I sent back I did not even get my $$$ back. These are all show and no go! DONT WAIST YOUR TIME WITH THESE |
I put this product on my 2017 goldwing from 0 to 100km bike is ok after that handle bar start shaking like a rocked before lunching and more you speed up more it shakes until i reach 160km i feel the handle bar wanted to fly from it place so its good for the people who they dont need to ride long high ways with speed and not good for people who like to ride with a little speed , there is nothing i did to find what the cause of my problem (shaking) i took it every where i changed and fixed many thing on my bike to get rid of bar vibrations i kept these balancers for more than one year suffering every time I ride my bike barely i wanted to sell my bike i hated it because of that and the solution was to take these off and balance the wheels with normal leads and the result was the bike is moving like Aladdin carpet with no vibrations in bar .
For comparison, I'm 5'11" with 31" inseam. The windshield is well made (no complaints). I ordered the 16-20 with vent. I prefer to look over the windshield. No matter how high or low I adjusted the windshield, I have an irritating, rapid buffeting on the top of my helmet. The stock windshield was better in calm wind than this one.
Have used it for a few thousand miles now & the bag itself is great, no complaints AT ALL! Plenty of storage & like the outside pouches. All seems durable enough so far - good bag. Downside: As others have noted, the securing isn't a great fit (I have the Kury luggage rack) so you have to do some creative engineering for secure fitment (I use 2 bungees & have routed them for easy on & off, so not a huge deal). #2: The rain cover doesn't fit well when using with the Kury rack as well... last trip riding in rains, the cover kept getting air under it, filling like a balloon and lifting off (fortunately it IS tethered). I had to stop 7 or 8 times in a 3 hour stretch to put it back on. I have since added a small cargo net into the rain cover storage pouch to put on at the same time I need the rain cover - this too will be held on with bungees & prevents "lift-off"
I don't know if they changed something. But the LED strip that goes across the back of the trunk prevents access to the mounting screws of the lower part of the trunk. Distance between the mount bolts is 19-7/16". The LED strip is 20-5/16" hence it covers the bolts that would be needed to remove the lower part of the trunk. As I have already put on the LEDs to each side I have no option in returning this. Bigbikeparts comment was its a tight fit but should work. I have tried every way of mounting this.
I have put 70000 km's on these grips and buying new ones as the left grip has worn through. 70000kms out of a 15 dollar part - pretty good in my book. Will buy again when these ones wear out.
