ITEM: ME2158100

04.20.2015
I am posting this as a rebuttal to all of the negative comments. I have included a bit of my experience to qualify the information I have posted.

Not all of us ride the same, run the correct tire pressure, upgrade the bike's suspension, ride 50,000+ miles a year, compete in motorcycle Top Gun's or Rodeos, and push the bike to her limits.

But I do. I have been on the cover of GWRRA's Gold Book and full page in multiple Wing World's.

In my mind, 5,000 miles on an ME880 boils down to 2 things... Simple underinflation or a true defect.

I am a multiple Expert Level Top Gun Champion. I live 30 minutes from Deals Gap in TN and run it side saddle when bored due to heavy traffic. I run Traxxion Dynamic's strongest setup for the wing including their fork brace and billet triple tree. The point is I know my machine very well and I pay very close attention to her needs, like air pressure.

While I do love the ME880 rear, I can not stand a matched set. I also LOVE the Bridgestone g709 front but again, loathe a matched set.

For me, a rider who demands the highest levels of performance from his wing... Stoner g709 front and Metz me880 is a perfect combination.

Any rider who says it is easy to break the rear end loose has other issues than the rear tire. It is not the tire causing the drift.

I wrote some background information so you understand when I give my view, it is from experience running close to 200,000 miles on the Metzler me880 in a very short time. I am not an armchair quarterback who doesn't know what he is talking about. I didn't get my information from reading about some other rider's experience or some forum on the internet.

At the end of the day, consider the source of what you are reading.

Quick Release Drink Holder for GL1800, GL1500
ITEM CODE: WSDH1,   SKU: WSDH1

11.29.2013
I have had this on the front crashbar of my Harley for a long time. Saturday, Nov 23, 2013, I totaled the bike during a deer strike. Bike went airborne and did a lot of sliding and bouncing. Cup holder is not only still there but it did not move an inch.

Love it!

Gloss Black ISO Grips for Non Heated Grips
ITEM CODE: KU6380,   SKU: KU6380

10.30.2011
Been using the jury ISO grips on the wing for years so when the black ones came out, I added them to my other two bikes. Sold one of those bikes and replaced it with a super motard. First thing I did was to put a set on it.

Kury's chrome has issues but I have yet to have one problem with the blacked out grips!

Love em and my hands are much happier!

Fold Down Antenna Mount Flag Pole w/Flag for Gold Wing
ITEM CODE: BB52713,   SKU: BB52713

01.29.2008
So we are in a tough spot here. If you go with this unit you face 3 main issues..

1. Flags LOVE to wrap around themselves.

2. Correct installation is a nightmare due to the fat that the locknut on the ant is either completely unadjustable (recessed inside this unit without ANY way to touch it!) or you have to remove the locknut altogether and struggle with it for a LONG time to get it in just the right position, HOPING it never comes loose. (Or you give up and just tighten it down but have to loosen it to fold the ant's down to put a cover on the bike, then tighten it back down when you are ready to ride.)

3. The chrome on mine went south in less than 2 months. I have been assured by the man' that they will be replaced, but I have not set aside the time to get them replaced. When I do get them replaced they will be going on e-bay.

I am testing a new setup now, but ironically have had VERY good luck using the ant itself as the flagpole. Cut a small hole in the flagpole loop of the flag itself and put on a zip tie, or tie tie and bam.... done. My POW/MIA flag has been working perfectly like this for over 3 months now! (That's approx. 14,ooo +/- miles.)

Chrome Radio Panel Accent for GL1800
ITEM CODE: BB52696,   SKU: BB52696

01.29.2008
Purchased this and the knobs and the two matching covers for the headlight control & Nav areas.

LOVED the look, but got very tired of the sun glaring back into my face.

I ended up pulling it all off and going with color matched parts. LOVE my color matched parts and no longer have the glare!

That being said, this is a good product that is well made. Just make sure you wear a full face with good sunglasses.

Did I mention the headlights of passing cars will also blind you?

Fold Down Antenna Mount Flag Pole w/Flag for Gold Wing
ITEM CODE: BB52713,   SKU: BB52713

03.15.2007
Need constant 'adjustment' and have become a pain in the butt. Would NOT purchase again. Can I get a refund?

Side note -- the flags like to wrop themselves AROUND both the flagpole AND the ant. causing me to keep an eye on them in the mirrors and reach back and fix it while attempting to drive down the rode. Very unsafe for me and if left unchecked, looks very bad flying flags that wave wrapped themselves around 3 or 4 times.

HAH - that's funny, it took me all of a minute to notice the tightness if mounted as pictured so I TOO installed the unit point-up.

1. I am not happy with the finish of the gold. It's not smooth. It's obvious to anyone who really looks at it that it's an inexpensive plastic add-on.

I purchased this to help make sure I did not damage the paint when using the key on the trunk, which I rarely do since I use the remote to lock and unlock. I am satisfied overall with the unit, but I do wish it had a better finish.

Kuryakyn Armrest w/ Drink Holder for GL1800
ITEM CODE: KU8991,   SKU: KU8991

02.20.2007
Looks like I am the too critical guy.

1. The angle of the actual armrests themselves doesn't match ANY of the lines on the bike. They position your hands much lower than you elbows so it is uncomfortable and clashes visually.

2. The pads are VERY slippery. This has become a significant annoyance for my passenger who is constantly repositioning her arms because they keep sliding. (This would not be such an issue if the armrests were level with the ground.(This would also line up with the rest of the lines on the bike.))

3. The cup holder is a very freaky size. I am not at ALL happy with the size of the cup holder in any way shape, or form. Would be so much better if just a bit larger or smaller.

4. ALL of my parts are install by First City Honda dealership.

FYI - a standard to-go cup from your local restaurant will usually leak ALL over that side of your bike. I found this out the hard way doing less than 55 mph. Use containers that have some kind of seal or sealing lid / cap.

Trunk Light Reconfiguration Harness for GL1800
ITEM CODE: EC02112,   SKU: EC02112

02.20.2007
Great in concept, BUT...

1. The turn signal section of this kit is not very bright. (It doesn't seem as bright as when the brake lights were on - same bulbs)

2. My brake lights on the trunk no longer work as brake lights.

3. These flash at the same time as your factory turn signals. (This was a suprise as the trunk turn signal kit for my GL 1200 alternated the trunk and stock turn signals, so that was what I expected. Big let down for me)

4. Not very noticable. I do not feel that this product lives up to expectations.

5. I had this kit installed by the Dealer per the instructions that came with the kit.

If I had it to do all over again, I would have this kit control the INNER trunk lights to retain the original brake light configuration on the outside lights. This kit does work, but there were a few suprises for me.
