Update to 2015 post
Update to 5/15: Still a great investment. Got backrest in 2013. Easy install, mount and adjust. I’m 6' 4" and getting fat. See my WS gallery. Backrest adjusts to me fine. As an Iron Butt member (go far and fast) I love this backrest. I use it on rides more than 200 miles round trip. Ha, just getting old. ☺ For long trips suggest this backrest, Air Hawk seat pad (no seat heat needed) and Mick-O-Pegs. Yea, a 1000 miles in 24 hours is a very easy!!! Liked your favorite chair. Rust? For chrome to rust there is serious abuse. Have had my seat off many times, (change air filter, center shelter off, electrical additions, etc.) have never seen rust on mounts. On the twist attaching a little light lubricant is advised. |

Expensive and Big waist
I ride year round in cold and hot temperatures. Rode with a set for more than a year. MAJOR WAIST OF MONEY. They have little or no effect. The most expensive waist of money and worst product for Wing I know. |
Centramatic Stainless Wheel Balancers for GL1800

Centramatics system gets best tire wear!
Excellent product. Saves money. Wheels don’t need balancing. If one removes the wheel themself, many car tire shops can break the bead and will remove and mount new tire for a much lower cost than a bike shop. Tire cupping can be caused by a few things. Usually by bad suspension. One may wish to check the torque on the steering tree. Second Honda as always used ball bearings in stead of roller bearings. Changing those bearing make a big difference. Tires don’t cup nor is there a shimmy when slowing down. For the best stable rid I recommend spending the money for a Traxxion suspension system. It has saved my life more than once. Recommend that new tires are installed with the Centramatics. All weights (stickies or crimped) be removed. I"m a very aggressive rider and ride year around. I have 12 K on Dunlop Elite 3s. Thanks to Centramatics. Will be interesting to see how may miles I get out of these tire. Like the Traxxion suspension system Centramatics is the best money I spent on my Wing which has over 110K miles on it. No plans to get a newer one. Centramatics is an excellent investment! |

GREAT ADDITION
After several K miles with Centramatic and new E3 tires, some all day trips 8-10 hours, through winding mountain roads, interstates and big city traffic. The Centramatics preforms very well in as much no vibrations, the wheels are balanced. Upon installation, one should insure ALL balancing weights are removed!!!! Some of the complainants may not have removed their balance weights from the wheel. It is very important to remove balancing weights, confirm rotation and insure the tire yellow dot is at the valve stem. AGAIN, if one can take the wheels off their bike most car tire shops can remove and put back on the rim your new tire. They just don’t have the balancing equipment. Much, much less cost than a MC / bike shop. I found that taking off my GL1800 wheels is very easy. Recommend OEM torques when re-installing. |

CENTRAMATIC SAVES ME MONEY
Was a little apprehensive at first. Ran Avons Cobra for a long ways with conventional balance. Installed Dunlops E3s (got them for lest than half that is why the change. I do regularly check pressure) and installed Centramatic. Recommend using the Honda OEM torque for the bolts. After a 1000+ miles have NO issues with wheel / road vibrations / stability at speeds from 0 - 100 mph. Like Centramatic! Why? One can buy tires online for far less than at the local bike shop. Even if one have the tire irons / tools it is very hard to break the bead (I spent 3 hours trying and gave up). Took wheels to local car tire shop to break the bead. They did and mounted new tires correctly for $20 (yellow dot at valve and of course correct rotation). They just didn’t have a way to balance a MC wheel. Centramatic. All weights on wheels (sticky or crimped) should be removed. At this time, I believe Centramatic saves me a lot of money. Will see how far new tires go and wear. |

Totally shocked!!!!
My ‘06 Wing (90+k) is primary transportation (not fair weather rider, maintain my Wing, member of Iron Butt Association, I ride hard & fast, I go through traffic like grap in a goose). I keep records. These Cobras were reported to get 20K miles. Emphasis add, I didn’t believe it. I do now. Changed tires today, got 22,000 miles out of the Cobras. I saw the wear bars. Better than seeing cords. Handling: I used the 70 profile. Been through several heavy rains for more than an hour at interstate speeds. I love my Wing not even my feet got wet at those speeds. The Wing was very stable with the Avons at 75 to 85 mph. Also highly recommend the Traxxion suspension system. I believe these Avons need to be “broke in†for high speeds. Run them up to 110 mph or better (full throttle), they seem to be a bit unstable at first. They seems to learn and become stable. Have dragged foot pegs, no issues with Avons. They hang on pretty good. Flat wear in center of tread is natural. It is simply the wear on any tire caused by straight down the road riding. Cupping its caused by low tire pressure, poor riders. |

Trunk Wig Wag Update
Great attention getter! I removed the bottom cover of the trunk and mounted the unit to the bottom of the trunk. This makes for easy access to the trunk tail light wiring. The cover protects the unit and is out of the way and trunk. I drilled a 1/4" hole near the helmet lock for a 3 position micro switch to change patterns. If one wires their bike as I did, I recommend using red LED bulbs. The unit reports to handle only 10 amps. 4 - 7443 incandescent bulbs are right at 10 amps. I know, a little more involved installation but what else do I have to do beside chase women and ride? :-) |

Old Old Butt
On my last post I stated the Air Hawk "flattens" when going to higher altitudes. That is incorrect! It inflates getting harder. OK, I really like my Air Hawk. However, I have the "comfort package" on my Wing. The heated seat has little or no effect when I use the Air Hawk. I ride year round. My no ride temperature for a trip is 20ËšF. No I don't wear heated clothing. Just put on a downy sweater on under my leather insulated MC jacket and insulated chaps. Don't use the Air Hawk at lower temperatures but take it along for when the temp gets warmer. GREAT PRODUCT!!! |

Great Investment
I have these on my '06 Wing and I ride year round in Colorado and well beyond. I had to replace my lower lamps in the first year because of all the pitting from road junk and I installed these protectors. Yes they get all the road junk / pits, scratches. They are much, much easier to clean, buff, polish the the pits / scratch out than the lower lamps. One may wish to remove the lower cowl and dust off the lamp about every 6 months. These are far better than the velcro disks that are offered by WS. These allow full use of the lamp's reflector and the rubber mount allows flexing that they doesn't easily break. I hit a jack (rabbit) at night at about 70 mph in the desert. The protector flexed no damage on lower cowl or lamp, just hair left. Dent left on metal exhaust chrome cover. I liked these well enough that I have a backup set. Best protection I've seen for lower lamps. I also recommend similar protectors for head lamps. |

Trunk Wig Wag
'06 Wing has 4 lights. 2 on each side. I rigged Back Off so that 2 inner lights wig wag with 2 out lights on. Then all 4 flash. The bag lights stay solid. I then put a micro switch in trunk to change pattern. Thinking about putting a spoiler with light on but don't know how it lights or if I want it. Wing has 6 tail / brake lamps as is. |
