When you get ready to install this, put on a pot of coffee or get a couple cans of pop. This is not a hard install but it does take time. Well worth the effort, they look like factory install product.
Standing there with a really long knife looking to cut the seat... no pressure there! It actually was quite an easy install and the comfort is great! Twenty three states, Deals Gap and 7,700 miles without a back or shoulder ache in May 2009! Looks as if it were original equipment.
Reviewer Michael has it right! I,too, was confused by the lack of complete directions. I did install them and found I had to reinstall a part because of the confusion. I've ridden for years with boards and these don't seem to fit me quite right. Short from front to back, I'm a size 12, and the front toe sits too close to the engine housing. As for the two pieces that go under the board; those both broke off after starting up the Tail of the Dragon! Supposedly they protect the sides of the board from wear. No joy there. Look great. Heavy duty.
Well the truth is they don't really fit that well. The radius of the bend is off a bit and they don't fit with the flat pieces. If you use a hair drier, on a low heat setting, you can bend them a little to have a closer fit. Holes were also just a touch off. Don't tighten them until you have all the screws in and then tighten each as you would lug nuts. Alternating as you go. Riding partner liked them so much he, too, bought a pair.
I wanted additional lighting for the rear and these work great! I was a little apprehensive about taking the rear of the bike apart but it went together well. Took about 1 hour. My riding buddies say it looks great and lights up nicely.
First set of these tires and I am really pleased! I have used Elite III tires on my bike and though they are good tires the Avons are superior. Put the larger 70 sreies on the rear and the speedometer is now corrct. Drove from Oregon to Deals Gap and rode the Dragon! 7700 miles and the bike handeled great. Lean and let them turn! Tracked like they were nailed to the road. Still have a great deal of tread left after the trip. Floor boards took a beating!

Very pleased once they were installed. The chrome is nicer than the flat silver of my old passenger boards. As others have reported it is annoying to have to take pieces from the old boards. |
Ordered 1st pair and had a problem with one side. Got an RGA from Wingstuff and 2nd pair was sent with no problems. They look great and give passsenger another position to choose from. Install was quick & easy.
Okay...this is what I think of these floorboards; they add a nice look to the bike, folded up or down... and, they are very comfy for the wife, extended or not. What I did not like was the quality of the plating and the fact that I had to pirate parts from my old floorboards to make these work. Also, all the hardware was loose! I had to remove, locktite and reassemble all the hardware...all of it! The chrome is hazy in some areas and yellow in other areas. What gives with that? Kuryakyn can definitely do better here. Last note; I had to add a couple of washers behind each mounting bolt to space the floorboards out from the frame otherwise the back corner, near the hinge, would hit the backing shield every time I raised them. Overall, I decided to keep them, but just barely.
Wow...nice covers, and packaged very well! These really take the profile of your bike and give it da bling. Installation was easy...but...you need to lift the shelter to seat the double sided tape(?????). I would think most folks that buy this item don't stick the tape and just use the 3 mounting screws to hold the panel in place since the top section slides under, and is held by the shelter anyways. Either way you mount it, it will look great when you are done...just don't look down at it when you are riding.
I received these boots about a month ago and I am very impressed. They are more rugged then I thought but very comfortable. I would buy them again. I find that it is easier to shift my Goldwing with these boots then my previous pair. The only issue I had was that they were difficult to get them on and off until they got broken in. A great pick.
This is a very nice addition!
