I've had these on my last 2 GL1800s. I had the same mounts but with the footboards on first GL1800. I prefer these for looks, comfort and the way they fold nicely out of the way. Great on long trips, they allow me to stretch out. They now make extenders for those of you with long legs who need a wider "stance". However I have restricted parking room in my garage so have not used the extenders.
i have a 1500 gl with the compufire alt.does anyone know how this battery will hold up with the 100 amp alt?
I never could understand folks who poo-poo stuff without ever trying. I give their credibility a '0' star. I give these 5 stars. I have the original Road Trip Essentials color matched set. They are but another tool of safety. Yes, turn your head, use all mirrors and check again. I love the added assurance.
This adds a nice touch to the lower rear fender. Very easy to install, however I found the piece a little wider than the fender so I added a small piece of good quality double side tape to each end. Like some other reviews I also used some small clamps and left them on overnight. I haven't had problems with it falling off or even coming loose. The chrome is great quality. No regrets.
I just received this by FedEx; I got it earlier than expected. The item is terrific. It took me about 10 minutes to install. It looks great. I'm looking forward to putting it to good use on those longer rides. This is a great product and has solid construction. Thanks Wing Stuff for the quick delivery.
These are the absolute truth, they really make the bike stand out. I did take the advise of others and warm the bike up prior install if you are in frigid weather.
Just installed them yesterday and they look fantastic. Easy install.
I got the mufflers 1 year ago love them, installed in under 1 hour the sound could be deeper so i pulled the baffles out no it sound great < sounds like a euro sports car and better power out of my goldwing
Activate the glue and stick it on. Adds a nice little touch of chrome.
Good insurance in a small package. Hope I never have to use them.
These little beauties are a snap to install although I had to remove the nuts from my beverage butler to make room for the left one. Adds a nice touch and a little more bling to the wing.
Installed these a couple of weeks ago and have put a couple hundred miles on the bike with them. Installation was very simple although you do need an extra set of hands. Like many before have noted, you will have to fold the boards up or get an extender to use your sidestand and getting both feet on the ground at stops is a little more difficult although at 6 feet tall, I've had no problems. You will not be able to get a toe under the forward peg after installation unless you have a VERY small foot, but you get use to the difference in shifting pretty quickly.
