I've had three sets of Metzeler ME880 on my 2004 Wing. I don't think I will buy any more. They get great mileage but on ALL three rear tires they are so noisy after about 5-6000 miles. I'm putting on an old Elite 3 I had replaced with only 4 K on it and taking the ME 880 off just to get rid of the howling. I tried Avon tires years ago on an old Wing and got the same noise. It appears the better mileage the harder the rubber.

Love the look but requires you to drill your expensive plastic and that's not something to tackle lightly. Got a mate to help with fitting coz I was wary of the sizeable sticky pad grabbing hold of the fender before I lined up the bolt holes. Looks great and stops crap getting chucked on my engine casing. I have a 150m unsealed driveway so this was a no brainer.... |

Bought a black one. Mounted it on the LHS frame and connected to the accessory terminal on the fuse block. Pretty simple install. Deducted 1 star because the numbers peeled off with the protective wrap so now it's just LED colours - which aren't a problem. Not back value and a sensible purchase for any Wing owner. |
Noticable throttle crispness. Better acceleration. I like the idea of a re-usable filter and have had great results with K&N products. The installation is not for the faint. It's a time consuming job. I think I'm going to like the results though.
Good product. Very effective and take up very little room in the trunk. Well worth the money.
I gave this 2 stars because this product can decrease your lean clearance and scrape when doing tight turns/u-turns. It is well built, and may work for some people who don't have concerns for lean angle clearance. But it did not work for me.
I have been using Plexus for about 7 years on my last 3 bikes and was very happy with it. My dealer convinced me to try a cheaper product on my GL1800 this year. The new product left a nice shine but I was disappointed with the residue it left behind and lack of cleaning power. I switched back to Plexus and will likely never use the rest of the other product. Plexus cleans as well as polishes which is great when on long trips.
I have had the boards for 20k miles so far. I've had no problems beside the sometimes cornering clearences. They are still keeping there shine just keep them clean and washed and you should have these for along time. There hasn't been any mechanical problems with shifting once in a great while I may miss a shift but due to my lazyness in shifting. You do have to make clean shifts to make it work properly. I will never go back to the stock shifter. I gave this item 4 stars because I have to take the shift side off to add coolant etc....but very easy to install just alittle annoying cause I have to carry one extra tool with me.
These beads are great, but were being a real pain to install. After tapping and tapping on the valve stem with a screwdriver, I got the bright idea to take the vibrator from the bedroom and put it against the valve stem! Voila, the beads went in! (your results may vary)
Measure twice & cut once & all should go well. A real back saver on long trips & the pouch comes in handy too. If you find the pouch flops around in the wind get a small bunge & secure it from the backside, that way it's virtually invisible.
I have 7000 miles on these tires. They are very noisy when the bike is going around curves or turning. The howling when the bike is leaning to the left or right decreases when the bike going straight, but it is still there. My Dunlops did not make this noise. The Metzlers also started to cup or scallop at 1000 miles.
Finally can ride without pain between my shoulders! Easy installation took about an hour. The most difficult part was getting the meter panel and GPS out of the way. I used a bungi cord. Unplugging the meter panel is not necessary, besides being difficult. I bought the standard version. The new handle bar position is great for me- I am 71" tall.
