The quality of the product is excellent. Installation was straightforward. The only design complaint I have is with the front piece that slips into the cowling-- it is not long enough (by about 1/2") and more importantly the sides do not tuck up high enough to fully enclose the sides of oil filter assembly or opposite side of frame-- which leaves opening for something from side to get to those areas (2010 GL1800). Otherwise, good product and will certainly help to lessen debris damage threat to underside of bike.
With my corners rubbing I discussed with Honda ( no fix ) or warranty on a new ride. A fellow rider installed these 2 years ago and wall-la chafing stopped. I installed mine only on the rearward side since its the only wear point. I used a silicone base lub for orings and they went in easy. I did have to shave some of the top off to make it easier to shut the lid. I have an even gap all the way around my lid now.
This product is awsome and definately brings out the side. It is real simple to install, directions spot on. I would add to starting the shouldered screws before applying pressure to the upper section since it is 2 sided tape and tighten them just to the point to allow you to adjust the upper section as necessary. I sure like it and to me its worth the money, with foot boards the extra rubber inserts has an added protection of scratching from your heel movement.
Really! This should be a stock item on Gold Wing. If you're spending a good amount of time on your ride this is a must have item. Anyone can install this in less then 30 minutes. The most difficult part is drilling the hole, use a 1 1/8" driil if no 30 mm is on hand and just use the same file you use to create the notch to open the hole slightly.
Got the all Amber lights, looks great with my white bike. The tape make them really easy to install, but make sure you have them positioned where you want them as this tape STICKS. I had no problem finding and hooking up the wiring either. Great product at a very reasonable price.
I have been using e3s on my wing because they came on it,put these on for half the price and they are the best running tires i have had yet, don't have the dishing, and wobble on the handle bars like i did, i would recommend these over the others any time. i ride 30000 miles a year. Five stars!
Put these on a couple of years ago and realy do like these wing board pegs.Only problem is the set screw that stops them from moving forward and back comes lose, especily on the gear shift side where you use your foot more. It,s a poor design and if you buy this product make shore you put the right size allen key in your tool kit to tighten the set screw if it comes lose while on a trip. I STILL FIND THESE PEGS VERY COMFORTABLE AND CAN LIVE WITH THE MINOR TROUBLE.
Just put a new set on my 07 wing.I get around 13-14 thousand kilometers on the rear tire.Got 28000 kms out of the front tire, that,s the first tire change for the front tire.I find these tire are a very smooth ride and don,t cup .Last rear tire i had was a dunlop elite because the dealer didn,t have a bridgestone, big mistake. After 5-6000 kms it was very loud and it started cupping,after12000 kms i took it off although it was good for another 3-4000 kms.For me i,m sticking with 704 and709 bridgestones.
I thought no way will this work, so I eat my words it is great, steering so much more stable, when hitting a bump or uneven road much more control no shake or wobble which I had before. Highly reccomend it. Should have been standard. Mine is fitted to a 2003 1800.
Installed part in 20 minutes and it make the gray drab piece pop out. note take body pins out last and put back in last
I held off writing until I had some miles on these puppies. Their handling & road noise are excellent. Have driven the OEM Dunlop D250 (10k mi before nail), & previously an Elite 3 set to 8-9k mi. E3s were very noisy, loose in the corners, & exhibit a greater degree of cupping than D250, in addition to more pronounced wobble at slow/ tranistion speeds. The Elites still have tread (will keep for interim set), decided to put the Avon Cobra's on for a 2500 mi trip to AZ, riding the old Rte 666 Devils hwy (aka hwy 191)- did that stretch have some curves!!..~1100 to be close!! The Avons handled superbly & without whining or missing a beat. Some slight wet stretches, no problems, but need heavier rain to be sure. No evidence of cupping or other yet. Will see if I get 8-10k mi from them.
This bag does indeed fit the trunk wonderfully, but the first time I used it, I tore a big hole in the top of the bag. I was "adjusting" (shifting) stuff inside the bag to get it down into the trunk & grabbed the handle to assist in this, then the one end of the handle just ripped a "nice" big hole. I'm going to look at Wing Ding & see if I can find something made of a more durable material or with a wrap-around handle. I thought Saddlemen would be a pretty good product, but the material just isn't cutting it on this item.
