Centramatic Stainless Wheel Balancers for GL1800

Got this at wingding 34. The ride home was great. The handle bars didn't shimmy or shake.
Also I was checking tire companies and their warranty on products for inside the tires. Some will void the warranty for adding products inside the tire.. So check with the manufacture before buying. I also have the honda tire sensors and was concerned with that as well . Every bit a five star.

Passenger Armrest Trim for GL1800

Note: I also purchased the plug & Play wiring harness for my 2010 GL with a CSC trike kit. The plug in wires on my trike were buried in the bowels of the trike so I elected to hard wire the lights in. It took me 4 hours to install but they really are nice for turn signals and running lights. They're really bright. The turn signals on the trike are really low just above the lower bumper so I thought these would be up there at eye level for the cage drivers and they are really noticeable. I'm sure it would have been a lot easier had I used the plug and play method but I soldered all connections and shrink wrapped them.

Bridgestone Tire COMBO for GL1800 G704/G709

OEM duns were noise to a point of being irritating. riding buddies suggested Stones 4K later front end wobble caused by cupping but still a lot of tread. Then I read a review that was very helpful. Honda engineer said that cupping can be cause not so much by the tire but by worn Honda parts.... this can cause the problem as it is recommended that at 25/30K the steering bearings should be checked and or replaced, same with the fork springs and rear shock springs. So, the 4K cupping could be caused by poor engineering? Before I replace the tires I will have the above mentioned conditions checked. I'm at 42K on the odometer , could be the problem. So to accurately rate the tire? Until now I've been very satisfied with the performance, noise level isn't nearly as bad as the Duns and they haven't slipped out from under us yet. We ride two up and pull a trailer 65% of the time. Just avoid the road snakes in hot or wet weather.

I won't mention names of other headset manufacturers but I have tried most, and being a little on the big product review side, I decided to try this one out a few years back and placed them in both my Wife's and my helmets. Well considering what you get for your buck thease are fantastic headsets, so I just ordered my third set for my newest helmet. Took me a whole 20 minutes to install it and test it out. Like the other two before it works great. Another reason I chose this headset is because the speakers are really narrow in depth, which makes it great for those tight fitting helmets with no earpiece indention for a headset. My opinion you can't go wrong with this headset. Of course J&M's bigger headset will give you better clarity but the ear pieces are quite thick so if you don't have that space required makes for a super hard install. Thease better headsets can be professionally installed but requires drilling through the helmet which voids the helmets warranty, another reason I went with the 279's didn't have to modify anything.

Chrome Lower Front Cowl for GL1800
ITEM CODE: BB52608,   SKU: BB52608

I bought this product and installed it on my 2004 Wing soon after I took delivery in August 2004. I got 8 yrs out of it before I needed to replace it. I always kept it clean but I think the "chrome" finish is so thin that multiple cleanings tend to destroy the finish. I put another on this past October when I had my Wing triked and hope to get another 8 yrs out of the product.

I love how the aftermarket has exploded with options for our bikes. It's great to have choices but like I always say "Don't let your eyes deceive you". GoldWingers in general spend thousands of dollars to chrome this and light up that but seldom think about critical maintenance items that need to be addressed. The suspension system on the GL1800 does a great job then after about 3 years we get the "jab" to our side and our co-rider say's "Easy on those bumps". This is a warning side that the bikes suspension needs attention. Remember, your co-rider is sitting aft of the rear suspension which acts much like a spring board. You as the rider aren't feeling what your co-rider is!

As options continue to increase it's important to slice through all the marketing. Cost of suspension upgrade are very wide and can easily take a big bite out of your pocket. No matter witch option you chose your bike will ride better as you are installing new material. Case in point was the first ride on that newly purchased GL1800. You told everyone that it's the best bike you ever ridden only now thinking about suspension upgrades. You can buy the OEM replacement for 1,500 and have that great feeling once again. However, you will find yourself getting jabbed in the sides in 3 years. Most after market solutions offer a greater pay load which in turn slows down the rate of spring compression. For me... the cost effective solution was the progressive spring replacement which I installed in 2005. Oh... about all that talk about the Pre-Loader settings.... My Pre-Loader doesn't engage till 8 and has been set at 6 with 2 up & a trailer.

Fork Braces in general are designed to aid with tube flex which is typical with dirt bikes and landings from hill jumps. When you look at the design of the GL1800 the placement of a Fork Brace is right above the upper slider bushing and the main fork housing. Factor in the tube wall thickness and if you have ever replaced a fork tube do to scratches/seal leaks the old tube can be used as a breaker bar extension. Case in point is ride with a brace for hundreds of miles and take it off and ride for hundreds of miles. The feeling that you will have is one that your pockets are a bit more empty as tube flex can't be felt nor displayed. Oh did I mention that wear to the upper & lower bushing continue with or without a brace installed. Bottom line, save your money with all after market fork braces and invest with suspension upgrades.

Rear Shock Hydraulic Pre-Loader Line
ITEM CODE: WS18LINE,   SKU: WS18LINE

This is another example where the manufacture saved money at our expense. The key issue is the air that is inside the assembly, therefore owners aren't getting the full intended travel of the Pre-Loader. After changing countless numbers of rear springs, I've found a hand full where the factory line wasn't holding up. You have to go back and look at the overall bike factors to understand that the rear spring is built for a max of 405 lbs. It doesn't take to many Ice Cream stops till we find that we're pushing the up button on the Pre-Loader. Having air in the system does in fact limit the total serviceable limit of the system, however you have to factor in the total rear suspension in order to fully understand. Removing the air is a good thing but if you find your back to 25 on the panel it's time to replace your rear suspension. Don't be fooled that removing the air will fix all of your issues.
