Chrome Lower Front Cowl for GL1800
ITEM CODE: BB52608,   SKU: BB52608

02.21.2009
Plastic. First thing out of the box was a note letting me know that the manufacture was infallible and they could not make any mistakes. I have convinced myself that mine was broken in shippment and that the missing parts escaped and resealed the bad on their way out.
On a side note be careful putting your GL1800 (and maybe others I am not aware of)on a condor motorcycle support (https://www.condor-lift.com/). The support will hit the cowl and could break the cowl.

Kuryakyn Chrome Floorboards w/Heel Shifter
ITEM CODE: KU4038,   SKU: KU4038

Looks like 5 stars but it does not give me the room I had hoped for, that is why it got a 3. Install was not bad but it should come with instructions and/or pictures of installation. It could be confusing trying to figure out what goes where and how.

Z-Style Required Lower Headset Hook Up Cords
ITEM CODE: PG03891

02.21.2009
Perfect lenght and nice snug fit. A little two snug for the larger connecter. I have a VERY hard time connecting the larger end because the dust cover is almost the exact same size as the connector on the bike, therefore it takes a unusually large amount of jiggling and wiggling to get the dust cover over the bike's connector. Seems to me that the inside edge of the cord's dust cover should be bezeled for easier connections.

Kuryakyn Armrest w/ Drink Holder for GL1800
ITEM CODE: KU8991,   SKU: KU8991

02.21.2009
These rests look extremely nice installed. Instructions are better than average for Kury, but expect to take 3 hours or more for installation. When I opened the package, it didn't look like it was gonna take that long, but it most certainly did. My brackets didn't sit flush in the side pockets and called Kury about it. They wanted me to return the whole unit to the dealer (about 100 miles away) for a new one. When I got BACK to the dealer, the brackets were identical... thanks Kury for a reason to put another 200 miles on my bike. However, as a note, after everything was tightened down, the brackets seemed to bend and twist a bit for a tight fit.

Measure twice, drill once. My best success with the bracket was to set it flush on the bottom and the back, leaving the outside pressed against the pocket wall, but not flush. When you drill your holes on the outside of the pocket, drill a little further in and use your drill bit to "mark" your drill holes on the bracket. Use a very small bit for a pilot hole to prevent "bit drift" so that you don't have to ream holes out to make a good fit. You can use a sharpie marker instead of a center punch if, like me, you don't have one.

When drilling on the left side of the trunk (if you don't have a CB already), use the little raised nipples on the inside of the trunk as your guide. Again, start with a small but for a pilot hole and use masking tape on the painted surface to prevent scratching from the drill shavings.

My wife loves these arm rests. The drink holder is adequate and very nice if you use the supplied koozie. It is true that if you want to fully access your trunk you have to swing these out, but with them in, you can access your trunk about 12 inches. Not enough to put your helmet in, but more than enough to retrieve smaller items like gloves, mail, etc, but if you want it to stay open, you have to swing the arms out.

One last item is that you WILL LOSE your stock mounting position for the passenger audio cord bracket. I did NOT like the idea of wedging it between the seat and the pocket, so I moved the bracket to a horizontal position just above the bottom of the left passenger pocket door. It looks pretty stock there and keeps the cord from rubbing on your bags. If you do this, make sure that you measure your holes so that when you open the pocket door, it will go all the way down. Feel free to contact me for a photo of this. [email protected]

Almost 4 stars for Kury's ignorance to the 1800 bracket fitment issue, but since it looks so nice and still installs tightly, it gets the full 5.

Great addition and will add a nice level of protection. Very easy installation - the hardest part is getting the protective plastic off the cover before the install. Well worth the money.

Kuryakyn Chrome Luggage Rack w/Rubber Inlay for GL1800
ITEM CODE: KU7151,   SKU: KU7151

02.19.2009
One of the legs had a lighter chrome plating that was slighly discolored but you can't see it when it is installed. Couple of pointers for the do it yourself installer. Use blue masking tape (available at any home depot or lowes store) it removes easily and can be marked on without bleed through to the paint below. measure a bunch of times and drill a pilot hole! I had a helper and it was a two man job to drill and hold the lid while attaching the screws.

My rack was slightly out of Horizontal alignment and need "adjusting". Place the rack on the trunk lid and make sure that all 4 feet are in good contact with the lid. I had one foot that wasn't and needed "adjustment". 3 blocks of wood and a rubber headed hammer got the rack back into true alignment with the trunk lid. As others have said its a scary experience drilling holes in a $300 lid but you can do it with patience and a steady hand. I give it 3 stars because of the chrome quality and it's being out of alignment. Also the directions were crap and don't even address the tightness of the screws. NOT TOO TIGHT, YOU WILL CRACK THE LID. Better to err on the side of too loose than too tight. One last thing. Make sure all 4 screws will go into the rack without binding in the holes. The last thing you want is to have a slightly offset hole cause a crack in the lid when you tighten things down.

Deluxe Luggage Rack Bag w/Rain Cover
ITEM CODE: WSRACKBAG,   SKU: WSRACKBAG

02.19.2009
After ordering and test fitting this on my Kuryakyn rack, I had to return it. It's too big to fit on the rack. This bag hangs over the back of the rack about 2 1/2 to 3 inches. It's massive. I got a kuryakyn bag that was sized correctly for the trunk rack. I paid about $15 more for the Kury bag, but felt it was worth it because it won't allow you to easily overload the trunk lid and it is very easy to install and remove with built in velcro and bungie fasteners. This bag (wingstuff bag sold here) was well made and I would consider using as a seat bag. The velcro straps would allow it to be placed on the passenger seat and secured around the grab handles. If I had through of that before returning it, I might have kept it as an additional travel bag. My advise, if you have the kury rack, get the kury bag.

This is a universal product not specifically made for the 1800 but it works well. If you have a vent on your windshield, you will have to raise the windshield up a couple of clicks to get the maximum capacity out of the bag. I use it to hold the windshield sock that Wingstuff sells to protect your windshield and dash from the sun. It holds it perfectly.

Universal Power Plugs
ITEM CODE: PG03446

02.19.2009
This review is of the front pocket version. Jims review is incorrect but I don't blame him for his assessment. The instructions don't come with this unit and you really are at a loss on where to put it. I also ordered the Hondaline genuine accessory front pocket outlet and the instructions there detail two locations for the plug. 01-05 place it at 12:00 straight ahead in the front pocket and the 06-up place it at the angled edge at 1:00 and have it pointing off to one side like the NNE postion on a compass. This clears the toe warmer cable. There is even a slight marking on the pocket to help you get the hole positioned right on the 06-up pocket. I only give it a 4 star rating because it didn't come with the wire sheath as pictured and no directions on installation. I wire wrapped it and now it looks like factory wiring.
