Not made for the 1800
I, like many others, assumed that this tool would work for the GL1800 since the description says "universal fitment". It does not! Called Progressive who stated they no longer make the tool because it did not sell well. Apparently they told Wingstuff that it was a liability issue. By watching the Fred Harmon video and seeing the correct tool I was able to make the hydraulic line adapter out of 2" electric pipe ($6.00) and grind the hook to fit the shock. Then it worked without issue. So unless your are handy buy the correct tool. DHS Racing sells it for $60.00. |

Wrong part
This does not fit the GL1800. I wish I had read the other reviews. You an make it work if you are creative, but try another idea first. |

DOES NOT work with 1800 Goldwing
This is the WRONG part for the 1800 Goldwing. This is for a softtail design. I don't know who is more stupid.. them for selling the WRONG part or ME for believing them.. |

Does not work with a GL1800
I purchased Progressive suspension components for the front shocks and a rear spring for the rear shock on this web site. I also purchased their Progressive spring compressor in order to install the rear spring. Progressive's part number for this compressor is 32-5508. After getting the motorcycle completely disassembled and ready to install the new rear spring, only then did I discover that the compressor won't work on a Gold Wing. The threaded hook at the top is too large to fit through the top shock mount, and there is no adapter for it to fit around the hydraulic line on top of the shock. Progressive apparently did at one time make a compressor, part number 32-5509, for the Gold Wing but no longer sell it. My bike is currently apart all over my garage while I contemplate a way to rig up something to install my new spring. I buy just about everything for my bike from this web site, have for years, and will continue to do so. This is the one and only purchase I have made that was a problem. |
