#1 add on for all Gold Wings
A friend bought one for his Wing. After see it it in action I had to have one on mine. The Wing is not an easy bike to get up on the center stand but now I put it on the stand without getting off the bike. Simply find neutral, push the stand to the ground and push the reverse button, all done. Had a gentleman witness this at a local motorcycle open house just after putting his on the side stand. He was in aw asking to see it again. He thanked me for the demonstration saying this just added years to keeping his Wing. Works well when pulling my trailer too. BEST #1 item I ever bought for my Wing |

Easy to operate stand
I had nothing but trouble getting the bike on the center stand. I was able to put the bike on the stand about one out of four tries. I had a neighbor lady help me put it on the stand so I could replace it with the new one. The guy that did the first review worked out all the problems so I did not have any problem with the installiation of the new stand. I ran out of quarters and used thick washers. That is the trick in hooking the spring back up. What a differece, so easy to put the bike on the center stand. |

gl1800 center stand
First I am glad to say I read some reviews about right side 14mm bolt being reverse threads(go figgure?!)I just carefully leaned bike over on left side crash bars-with my son to help go slowly and with sneakers under bars to prevent scratching, then used 1/2" breaker bar/14mm socket, to break bolt free(was not breaking loose with 14mm combination box wrench/mallet) Spray penetrating oil liberally the day before. Then I put back on center stand and used 8mm allen wrench and big rubber mallet to break left bolt free. Now for the time saver tips, fill all spring gaps with washers or quarters(like reviews said),use masking tape around spacers and spring. Then I used a 5/16" american gear wrench with a 3/4" long peice of cut off 8mm allen wrench.I then used a 9/16" american gearwrench on the right side also(14mm will do if u have metric,of course). This is the big time saver backing out both bolts- ONLY half way, with alot of fine threads (while still on center stand). Then take off center stand, put back on kick stand, then eaisly back out bolts and take center stand off, spring will unhook itself-NOTE spring placement. Keep right side spacer, bushing, bolt, washer togeather, same for left side parts(different). Use some grease on all spacers/bushings before reassembling. Use blue locktite on bolt threads,(note flat spot on washers go up-flush to engine casting)tighten up bolts with gearwrenches to just slightly snug. Then use big 8mm allen wrench and 14mm combo wrench and wack with rubber mallet to tighten securely. Attach spring to top stud, then just use needlenose pliers to attach spring(NOTE original placement of spring when removing-long end up/and not turned 180deg)to new center stand (this is with stand still in upper position, washers still taped to spring). Then put bike on centerstand ,(MUCH EAISER NOW)and untape washers and pull washers out with needlenose pliers. The new stand is a bit less stable than original, and seems to touch on the foot pedal extension as well as right side of stand. But overall I appreciate the ease of getting center stand up manually. I did try to use reverse in my garage, but stand only slid back due to smooth concrete floor, and it was a bit uneasy to hold bike up centered, use left foot to push new stand to floor and engage reverse. I just need to try on a rougher outside surface later. But dont really care because of the ease of using manually. The new stand is about 1 1/2" shorter than original stand, but it was always a bear to get original centerstand up.(I have a injured right ankle due to twisting it badly).I will have to use 3/4" wood/rubber spacer, under new stand to get rear wheel to be off floor for cleaning as needed. Thanks for taking the time to read this review, and it will only take 1 hr tops, if you use these directions. Enjoy your new center stand. And yes,(as reviews said) the extension is slightly different placement in muffler shield, but no big deal, and rubber foot pad hits shield on inner corner also no big deal. Dave |

Nice job
Following the installation instructions in previous reviews I found it straight forward and quite easy. Make sure to tape the quarters into the spring. The unit works very well, highly recommended. |

Love it!
Love this stand. As others have said, the coins in the spring made the install easier. To me, it's not as stable as the stock center stand but, it's still a great stand. I use it all the time. Really handy when riding with the SO. Put it on the stand, the SO climbs on, I get on and we ride off. When we stop, put it on the stand, I dismount the bike, then the SO dismounts. Gas stops while riding 2up are so easy now. MUCH easier than holding the bike while the someone climbs up into the back seat. Makes tire/rim cleaning a little tougher. I just put a board under it to get the back tire off of the ground. A must have for 2up riders! |

Great Addition
Installation was not too tricky, but you need to think it through before you start. It's now much easier to put the Wing up on the center stand with my foot. Riding up the stand in reverse works fine with one rider, but with wife on back (she's not heavy) it won't work. Riding off the stand is a bit dangerous if you are not on perfectly level ground, and not something I would recommend. I have found the shorter center stand (this one) works just fine even if the ground is not level. It seems stable and not 'tippy' at all. I really like this thing and because it's so much easier to put the bike on the center stand now, I don't use the side kick stand as much anymore. |

Nice Item
I received my Stand in a timely manner. Followed the directions on how to install. Put the Goldwing on it's side kick stand and had to lay on the ground to get to the bolts. pulled the center stand down as far as it would go and inserted washers between spring openings and raised the center stand back to up position and the spring come off with no tools. used a floor jack under the socket wrench handle to get both bolts to break loose (also to tighten). Got it installed in about 45 Min. It is very easy to park and use. I broke my back in 3 places 3 Yrs ago and never used my original stand this is a Great add on. Thanks |

Great addition
Put mine on in about 45 minutes. I have a bike lift so clearence wasnt a problem, biggest challenge was breaking loose the bolts. Used a spring tool and it came off and back on easily. Works great can use reverse to back up on the stand and ride off. |

The best I ever bought
I have a knee problem and it was very difficult for me to put my GW on the center stand. I installed the center stand in 25 minutes. Make sure, you use the coin trick. (Very helpful) Now it is more than easy to get my Baby on the stand with or without reverse. This unit is a must. Always ride save. |

Works very well with some caveats.
No issues fitting it. Coins in the spring worked perfectly. Makes very little difference to ground clearance on left but a bit on the right. Takes some getting used to for a smaller, shorter bloke. Hardest bit is "feeling" if the bike is upright enough to have both stand feet on the ground before commencing reverse. Notice also that it loads the reverse gearbox. Often a distinctive "Clunk" when you disengage reverse after having parked the bike. Also, be VERY careful of where you park. Make sure the surface is flat. One park the rear wheel rode up against a "fold" in the tarmac and when I returned to the bike as soon as I mounted it the stand retracted. Even though it was in gear there was enough backlash to allow the "fold" to roll the rear wheel forward a touch. Within a breath of tipping over. But the stand works and wife loves it. |

Install was easy.
Put mine on in about 40 minutes. Just put bike on centerstand and use a short cheater pipe that will fit over the end of ur hex wrench and ur box end wrench for the other side. Once u break them loose then put ur quarters in between the coils on spring, $2.75 to be exact. LOL. Use masking tape to hold the quarters in. Take bike off centerstand and put on kickstand and the rest is easy. Didnt need any tools to take off spring or put back on. Went on by hand. Great tip from the members. Reason this stand only gets 4 stars is that it don't fit perfect in the muffler groove. Its ok, nothin that jumps out at u. But there was no reason for MFG Co. to not make it perfect. It would have been easy to tweek in the design phase. Well see how long this stand holds up. See you out there. |
