Looks amazing but was, by no fault of the manufacturer, a pain in the butt to install. You need to look closely at the length of shoulder on the bolts when you remove the original cowling. The two top outer bolts (1 left, 1 right) have to pass through the upper cover and the fairing so that has the longer shoulder on the bolts. Just make sure they go in the same places and it isn't so bad.
Got this installed last night between getting home from dinner with the family and going to bed shortly thereafter for an early start the next morning. It literally takes more time getting the screws out of the inner trunk liner than it takes to install the spoiler. This piece adds nice lines that seem to be missing from the bare trunk even with a luggage rack installed. It just finishes the rear of the bike. I think it took me start to finish about 45 minutes including making two copies of the template and cutting them out with a razor blade for accuracy. Taping the templates to the trunk with masking tape, I used a pilot drill first (about 1/16th) and then drilled the 7/16th holes required. Pull the rubber grommet through for the wiring with a pair of needle nose pliers and the rest is cake work. It is pricey for what the component is made of but well worth it if you seek to add that finishing touch to your masterpiece.
Got this for free from the dealer, so that automatically boosts the value. I use this almost every time I do a weekend ride. It keeps my coffee hot and it doesn't spill. The little slide that covers the opening easily slips back. It helps to have an open face or modular helmet as using this with a full faced helmet could create all kinds of problems!
This product works great and is plug and play. My only issue is that I am new to the world of the wing so I didn't know exactly where to install it in the pocket. I could easily see the things that would prevent a clean install so I put it in the lower portion of the front facing wall of the pocket. It works fine, but I would have liked at least a hand drawn sketch of where it should have gone (on the diagonal section) the instruction states that there is supposed to be some indication on the pocket itself. On a 2010 there was nothing. The price is good and it's plug and play which is always nice.
They sucked trying to install them. After that, the trunk had a hard time opening and closing, especially using the key fob. But that's exactly what the instructions state. After a few weeks, everything worked normally. As the other reviewers have stated, some of the bumpers are leaning, but I don't think they'll break. On a yellow bike, I could see where the paint was wearing just after a few weeks of riding the bike. I put these puppies in and there has not been any more wear. It's worth the week or 2 of hassles to get the final result.
I love these, gives the saddlebags that new car smell. They fit perfectly, not real thrilled with the snap over the CB compartment but for the price, you cant beat it.
I love it!!! Took all of a half hour to install, it looks great and you simply can not beat the price! I bought the combo with the bag and used it for our ride from Jersey up to Niagara Falls, NY. It has held up great to the weather because I took note of an earlier review. I waxed the crap out of it the day I received it and it looks brand new even after riding hundreds of miles in the rain. So if you by it, wax it before you install it!

I'm sorry, but Kuryakyn makes the best highway pegs. I have owned a few bikes and put their pegs on all of them. I love the added riding position available and the ability to stretch my legs on the long hauls. They look amazing as well, easy to install and provide a million different varieties of mounting positions. A word of advice: Use Loctite Thread locking sealant when installing and you'll never have to worry about them coming loose. |
I purchased my Goldwing on July 23rd. On July 24th, I rode the bike 500 miles on one of the hottest days of the year. The air on route 78 through Pennsylvania was thick and heavy and the fact that I was on a motorcycle riding at 80 MPH didn't make a bit of difference to the air temp because the air was so still behind the fairings and windshield. These were the first things I ordered after getting home that night. What a difference they make on hot days. It's like opening the window in your car and letting the breeze blow in your face. Fantastic addition to the wing.
I installed this the week after purchasing the wing. I love it, the bike didn't feel as comfortable as I had hoped until I put this backrest on. It made all the difference in the world. It was a piece of cake to install and has held up great for the past 8,000 miles since the install.
I installed these on the day I purchased my Goldwing...They add tremendous comfort to the passengers as well as giving them an additional sense of security. They look great as well. My only complaint is that they need to be swung out of the way to open and close the trunk. Sometimes forget to close them and start to ride away with them in the out position.

I'm biker Manny. I'm writing this review not on behalf of the product (GL1800 Chrome Fairing Molding)I recently purchased from WINGSTUFF.com but the customer service I received from them. I received a call from their customer service department immediately as soon as I posted my review of this product. They were responsive, curtious and willing to resolve my complaint immediately. Rick from WINGSTUFF had call the manufacturer, which in this case was SHOWCHROME, to discuss the issue of my complaint. Rick put me in contact with Wally from SHOWCHROME. After discussing the issue with Wally from SHOWCHROME, they were willing to provide me with another set at no charge immediately. This is customer service from both the distributor and the manufacturer. I look for these qualities when I purchase over the internet. However, based on my design knowledge and years of experience, I declined the offer. I believe this product does have design issues with the tabs that can be improved. The current design can induce failure (tabs snapping off) resulting in a nonfunctional item. I provided constructive feedback to SHOWCHROME with the hoped they can address the issue. I certainly will purchased this product if they fix the issue in the near future for mu GOLDWING 1800. I will certainly continue buying products for my Goldwing from WINGSTUFF.com. They are a respectable company that stands behind the products and with an excellent customer service department. Thank You Rick; BIKER MANNY |
