After trying the Mini Arms I reinstalled the 4.5 inch arms and have them on my bike now. To eliminate the feeling of being a turkey wish bone at Christmas I stretch one leg at a time. Hopefully Yoga will increase the flexibility and thus increase the riding comfort. At 5'11" I believe the 4.5 inch arms are the best for me. Twelve hours a day on the bike poses little problem for this 68 year old biker.

After a vaction to the Vermont and New Hampshire mountains last year, pulling a trailer and riding two up, I decided it was time to do something about the rear suspension. With the trailer loaded, to distribute the weight, so there was very little tongue weight and the preload set at the maximum, I found I was still bottoming out on that trip. When I returned from the trip I ordered the spring along with the braided line for the shock. After doing some homework, I decided to have the dealer install the items, (this being the only thing from WingStuff I haven't installed myself). Given the amount of work involved to install, I'm glad I did. Now for the Information that really counts. I have a 2010 GL1800 (comfort, navi, premium stereo) with 30,000 miles, I'm a big guy (280#). Before the install I would set the preload at; 13 riding 1 up, 16 riding 2 up, 20 riding 2 up pulling a trailer. After the install I am now at 2 on the preload riding 1 up. The thing I noticed, when I first sat on the bike, was it sat about an inch higher than before. It was late in the season so I only had a chance to take a quick ride alone, but what a ride it was. I went 150 miles on some seriously rough roads to put it to the test. All I can say is, It was worth every penny it cost me to do this upgrade. Now I can't wait for my trip back to the New England Mountains to try out my new ride this summer. If you find you are starting to set the preload higher and higher every year. Do yourself a favor and buy this. You won't be disappointed! |
This was my final attempt to find the most relaxing riding position. After a trip of 2500km I switched back to the 4.5 arms. Flexibility is not a strong point so when riding I stretch on leg at a time. Hopefully Yoga will help. The product is a great one, the draw back is the rider.
In an attempt to find the right riding comfort I installed the 4.5 arms. My search for the right position continues as my legs brush against the lower fairing.
These are an easy install. Being able to stretch the legs on long trips is a must. With the many different riding locations these can accommodate all riders.
I purchased the 14" patch and sewed it on the back of my vest. The thread color shows no effects of the weather even after four riding seasons. Great product.
The toughest part of the installation was working up the nerve to drill holes in the trunk lid. The extra visibility on the back of the bike is a safety measure that cannot be discounted. The colour match was right on.
Used these when I installed my rack on the trunk.
I had to replace my original Baker Hand Wing with this because the first one did not stand up to a collision with a flying turkey. Before being unceremoniously removed from my bike the original did its job directing the wind and rain. Great product.
Based upon the condition I see every time I remove it to change oil, this product has saved me many repairs. Easy install.
Easy installation and does as advertised. Recommend.
Great investment and back saver.
