mounting bolt too short

The left clamp and swing arm assy bolt that connects to the 6" extension of the floorboard is about 1/2" too short. Because of this the swing arm assy broke off from the floorboard extension when I rather gently laid the bike over on it's left side in a parking lot. If this bolt was 1/2" longer it would protrude farther into the swing arm assy body and be much stronger. This happened on my '06 GL1800. I hope the bolts on the newer models are longer.
