Kuryakyn Armrest w/ Drink Holder for GL1800
ITEM CODE: KU8991,   SKU: KU8991

10.16.2012
I am now on my 3rd (and last) set of these passenger armrests and all have rusted after less than a year.
Look at the weld area on the bottom of the pad and you will see the yelloish tinge where the chrome plate did not throw and all you have is the nickel (or NI-RON) plate -- they will surely rust starting there. I approached Kuraykin's warrenty people at Daytona Bike week and the jerk tried to tell me first that nickel and chrome are the same, then he proceeded to tell me that because I rode in Florida I should expect to replace the chrome annually!
Since, whenever in a bike store, I look at Kuryakin' metal made parts and they all have terrible plating, just a sign of cheap un-caring production.
I will not buy another of their products

Kuryakyn Passenger Transformer Floorboards for GL1800
ITEM CODE: KU7006,   SKU: KU7006

Watch these for poor machining !
The first set I got would not swing up without jamming, the replacement set are better, but the long mounting (pivot) pin is too long and sticks out looking rusty (zinc plated only) and un professional.
They make you re-use the original spring and ball detent from the bike so the heavier boards tend to flop down on just about any bumps.
I am liking thier products less and less.

Kuryakyn Armrest w/ Drink Holder for GL1800
ITEM CODE: KU8991,   SKU: KU8991

I have had to replace my armrests 3 times because of rust since 09.
The bike lives under cover or in a garage.
Kurayakin's warrenty people tell me that I should not expect more that a year from the finish on a bike that spends time in Florida---- BS.! I spent many years in the plating industry and can tell you that the plating is definetly sub-standard, if you look underneath at the weld joint area, you can see that there is no chrome there, only nickel (look for the yellowish tinge) and nickel does not afford hardly any corrossion resistance.
