Streamline and protect your undercarriage by adding a belly pan to your GL1800 and achieve some benefits. While the primary goal of a belly pan is to protect softer undercarriage parts such as your coolant tank, there is added streamlining that provides a smoother air flow and contributes to less wind drag and buffeting at highway speeds. A custom engineered perforation pattern is incorporated to increase ventilation for better airflow. Made from 1 mm thick aluminum and designed in 2 pieces to allow easier oil filter access. Edges are softened to minimize sharp edges.
I have had this belly pan on over a year now and it has done it's job. It has several dings and small dents, one exactly where the oil filter is. So it may have save the the day more than once, it's too hard to really know. I feel better knowing it is there.
Its been about one year since I installed my alloy pan, It's done a good job and taken the hits, I've removed it two times to hammer it back into shape which was no big deal, changed the allen bolts to hex because of damage too, but now I'm installing one of the heavy stainless units for added protection. More of a skid plate is what the bottom of my wing needs, I guess my riding in the north east on these cobbled up roads with high driveway curbs is in line with Baja quality roads ? Desert Sled ?
Still think its a worth while addition, still give it 4 stars for saving my bottom end.
Installation was an easy 10 min job,and the product is thin and light, good protection from rocks and grime,I would like to see a heavier thicker pan that might actually protect the engine case if I were to hit large objects but I suppose this would do fine by deflecting debri and taking the shot, its cheap enough and so easy to replace. I see value in that.
And we can't wait to show you how it's done!
