These grips worked exactly as advertised. Installation was a snap. I used some all purpose automotive spray cleaner as lubrication on the inside and they slipped right on. Makes throttle control less touchy than the small grips. I can add just a little throttle at slow speed without over doing it.
A very nice looking flag it looks like it will hold up to the wind a little better than my last one which was not from here.
Well obviously I have it for them long trips, haven't used it yet looks like it would be easy, but insure you bring some air cartriges or an air pump to air up the tire if you get a flat.
This maybe a piece of plastic but if drilled correctly is pretty strong in my opinion, I do not have a luggage rack on the trunk lid so maybe with the extra weight if lifting the lid with a load may make it more susceptable to breakage. When you drill it insure you have the correct angle of your drill bit and be thinking about how the screws need to be flush on the inside of the lid, start of one size smaller than recommended and work yourway larger to get the optimum fit, that is where the strength lies. This makes a bare trunk lid more pronounced with the look, I'm glad I did it.
Easy install and good instructions and comes with templates which is a must. These should be stock on all Goldwings. The upper half direct outside air to the rider in summer and direct outside air away in the winter. The lowers are just the opposite.

Good quality for the price. Really love the rain cover! I use it alone over our sleeping bags. One note: the bag doesn't fit well over the Kuryakyn rack. |
Nice addition to my bike. I also have Torq Loopz installed. It's a tight fit!
I'm usually a difficult sell on "gimmicks." This isn't one! I put these on my 2008 Gold Wing, then rode 6,500 miles. Great handling at low speeds and high. In an emergency situation, I had to swing onto a rough shoulder on a two-lane road to avoid a car coming at me head-on in my lane. Smooth onto the uneven tarmac, and smooth back. I also ran the bike over 100 mph on an empty desert in the desert (don't try this at home, kids!). No vibration or instability. Love this product! I expect I'll make up the cost through self-performed tire changes.
Will not work with extended chrome kickstand so I had to put my OEM back on. I wear a size 11 so my boot does not fit between the shifter pegs so I have to set it to the edge of the foot board. Also, it sits a little far back and does not allow for a comfortable 90 degree leg and foot position. You have to fold your legs and feet back a bit and I'm only 6' 1". I'll need to put a few miles on to see if I get more comfortable with them.
Cannot recommend. Way over priced because you need to add rings and weights. You loose all the heat. Pulled hard on right grip end and it broke off. Kuryakyn charged $55 for replacement part and sent the wrong parts - sent it back. Difficult to install. Look elsewhere.

This set is for 2007 and earlier. If you have a 2008 and newer, this kit is missing a part (Seal Set: 51490-MCA-A61). Wingstuff supplies two of part number 51490-MCH-C11... this does not work on '08's and newer. '08's and newer need both parts (51490-MCH-C11 AND 51490-MCA-A61) I would have given this a 5 star rating BUT it's missing a $17 part you need!!! |
Had these for around 2 yrs. They get a five for looks new and a 2 now cause thats all they went. They do look killer when they're new, but they are plastic and are now peeling. They began to blister after 18 months and now look terrible. Unfortunatly, I have been unable to find a better quality product so I'll probably pop for a new set for another 2 years.
