Aluminium Cooler Rack - Vertical Black for GL1800

A little flimsy, but fits my needs. You need exhaust turn downs with it.
For a 10K trip it will work for what I need it to, butttt:1. It is flimsy. I drilled and added support because I was not confident of its structural ability. 2. You need exhaust turndowns to use this for luggage or good size cooler. I put insulation wrap on the corners of my cooler cause I had it.3. For what it is, it is way over priced. No way it can hold advertised weight and not break. |

works great!!
Other reviews mention that it is to close to bike/fender. I didn't find that at all. I bolted a aux fuel cell (or a duffel bag when not doing a iron butt ride) and it worked great!! |

Hitch Rack - not long enough for Goldwing!
I'll start this off with 3 stars because it looks like a great rack and probably works very well. I have not installed it yet and only held it up to the hitch to see what the clearance was going to be like. Another reviewer mentioned that it fits close and that whatever is on the rack will probably rub against the bike. NO KIDDING On my 2016 Goldwing the forward lip of the rack is up under rear of the back of the bike below the plastic between the saddlebags making the full surface of the rack unusable. I'll see if I can find a container small enough to fit onto the smaller area. This might still be usable, but not sure how much. I might end up coming back and down grading it to 2 stars for fit on a Goldwing. If the support arm were 2-3 inches longer it might be perfect. |

Welds Prone to Breaking
I bought this and used it once, the return trip from Nashville to Tampa. Mostly interstate miles. I put 50+ lbs on the rack, well secured. I don't have use for anything that has limits beyond what the bike has. The welds broke on the thing after approximately 500 miles. There are 4 bolts secured through holes with caps, I can't be sure that these bolts wont shear off without the welds. At the end of my trip, it was noticeable that the shelf has dropped a few inches (2-4in) at the end and drags over curbs. While this product has failed webs, I am unsure if the unusable or not. |

Works great
No problems, works exactly like it should. Handles 25 pounds no problem. Also the aluminum drills easily for extra bungie hook spots or for mounting your license plate on the back of the rack. Only small complaint is that the paint chips off easily but a rattle can fixes that up fairly easily. |

Does it need bungee cords?
Threw a 2.5 gallon cooler on this for a road trip. Ice melts pretty quickly with all the heat going back there. Cooler also didn't have a tight seal so only used it for sealed products. Here's the thing! At one stop I forgot to put the bungee cords back on. At the stop some 30 miles later, the cooler was still there. Later when buying replacement cords I asked my buddy how many he thought I needed. His answer: "apparently none". I have since bought a 14 gallon Rubbermaid and customized a mount to make it to fit well on the rack. Should handle 2, maybe 3, full grocery bags (not cold items). So plenty of storage. Pitfalls: must get the right size container that won't block the license plate. Catches lots of dirt (or mud) from rear tire. 5K miles and already needs fresh coat of paint. |
