Other than drilling a big hole in the appropriate location in the trunk lid inner liner, the install was a snap. I use it to re-charge my mini-laptop in the trunk while on the go. |

I followed the instructions to figure out where to install it. I didn't find the 'X' as the instructions said to look for. I found a picture on line showing the installed plug and on my 06 Wing, there is a dot with a circle around it not an 'X'. Look for the mark on the outside front inboard 45 degree pannel on the pocket. I used a 1 1/8" hole saw from the hardware store that is good for wood and metal. It cut a perfect hole, use some caution and go slow for a clean cut. It works well and is a usefull for all of those little things that need power like the MP3 player. |

This review is of the front pocket version. Jims review is incorrect but I don't blame him for his assessment. The instructions don't come with this unit and you really are at a loss on where to put it. I also ordered the Hondaline genuine accessory front pocket outlet and the instructions there detail two locations for the plug. 01-05 place it at 12:00 straight ahead in the front pocket and the 06-up place it at the angled edge at 1:00 and have it pointing off to one side like the NNE postion on a compass. This clears the toe warmer cable. There is even a slight marking on the pocket to help you get the hole positioned right on the 06-up pocket. I only give it a 4 star rating because it didn't come with the wire sheath as pictured and no directions on installation. I wire wrapped it and now it looks like factory wiring. |

This review is on the trunk installation version. I give it 4 stars because the item I received didn't contain any wire sheath like the picture shows so I wrapped the wires with electrical tape. Looks about the same as the factory wiring when you do that. The connectors are made for the trunk accessory plug and that is UNSWITCHED power. That means that this plug is HOT all the TIME. Keep that in mind when using it. The instructions tell you exactly where to drill the hole in the inner trunk lid. Pay very close attention and don't drift very far off from that location. It is a very tight fit up there due to the trunk unlocking module mounted up there on the underside of the inner trunk lid. After installation, I'm pleased it works well and I can now use it to recharge my camera batteries. I bought a 10 foot coiled extension cord so I can also use any small LED lighting device if I need too. It was a nice addition with good utility. |

Model sold for fairing pocket Does Not fit Goldwing models with comfort package as the toe vents control lever and associated hardware/cabling take the space necessary for mounting of this unit. |

Easy to install. Only flaw is that when I pull out the item plugged into it, some times, the whole unit pulls out of it's mounting hole. The locking clips that hold it into its mounting whole could be stronger. |

I bought the one for the up front pocket and other than being nervous about drilling a hole in the plastic, it was a breeze to put in and funtions well. Have not tried anything that takes a lot of juice yet but for what I use it for it performs. |

Took about an hour to install this power receptacle in the trunk. Instructions are good, as well as the picture of the suggested mounting location. The 1-1/8" hole that I drilled for the installation was either very slightly reamed a bit or the clips holding the unit in place are a little weak. With very little pressure the unit would pop out of the hole it was installed in. To fix this....While I still had the back of the unit exposed I 'locked' it in place with some hot melt glue in the unexposed area only. This worked very nicely. |

I was a little hesitant about ordering this outlet because one review stated that because of the fuse had a low amp rating, it would not work with an air compressor. After receiving this item, the installation instruction stated that it has a 15-amp capability. I installed this outlet in the Saddlebag, where I keep my tools and compressor, wired it directly to the battery/electrical system with a 15-amp inline fuse, and it operates anything I plug into it, including the air compressor. |
